I don't want either of them anyway so I don't care what their form is like.
I would rather take the gamble on drafting a younger player who may turn into something than rent a 39 year old for a year.
When was the last time one of our players had 30 touches and 3 goals ?
Harvey can take maginnity spot in the team .
He could take lecras spot for next year !

You do both in parallel.

Have to organise your list to contend for top 2 every year, see Geelong and Hawthorn.

Never compromise acquisition of young talent but never discount quality senior players if they can play a pivotal role.

After 2 seasons, it is mych more likely the youngster we draft is ready to play the role.

You rarely build a premiership team on drafting alone. Even when you are given upteen concessions ala GWS.

See their list management, Patfull, Johnson etc. and yes Boomer is older but he is a freak of nature, clearly as the games record depicts

We'd have to give up this years first round draft pick as well as someone like Andrew Gaff.
As good as O'Meara is in theory it's a lot of risk for a small chance of reward. Probably better we sit this one out.
Forget about O'Mera.

We should take maximum benefit from this situation and trade Masten to Gold Coast.

They've stated they need experienced mids not more picks. Currently have 7 of the top 25 picks before trading Prestia or OMera.

They would give up a 1st rounder for Masten as they have so many picks and need experience. Masto has even hit a bit of form recently.

Yes but bringing Harvey in is going to stop Partington/Nelson or someone similar from having a spot in the team and developing

Gold Coast should be going hard for Fyfe.

Two first round picks + Garlett or Ah Chee.

Put up Jack Martin + picks and Freo would have to stop and think about that.

Which of those players will be an automatic starting forward pocket next season?

That line of thinking is flawed. Not only is it a fact that Harvey is a better forward then the two you mention but he is also a much better midfielder.

If Butler retires then Nelson is an automatic replacement. Partington is in direct competition with the midfield group and on the basis of this season where he has not played any senior games it is fair to assume he may not be ready next season also.

It is about list quality and thus competition breeds success.

66 goals a year?
I'd take a punt on that. His skills are shite, but he attacks the footy and clearly has some line breaking speed and size.
Rough gem but worth a look.
Fyfes kicking is crap still
