Harvey will not help us win a flag.

He is a finisher, not the grunt.

We don't require anymore of these types, age notwithstanding.

He may provide flashes of brilliance, sure. But that won't help us get back to the final Saturday n September. It's just poppycock.
Cripps is not a finisher. Hill only finishes stuff he pulls out his arse. That only leaves Lecras, and it's pretty obvious this year that it's Harvey>Lecras.

This is a different thing altogether from our inside midfield problems.

Actually it's quite similar, we have the third highest average age of players who have played this season in the AFL behind North Melbourne and Fremantle, and we have the second most 28-30 year olds. In fact in Fremantle's most successful season, which I'm sure you'll agree was 2013, they had 7 players 28 and over on their list, we currently have 11. We need to be blooding and developing young players, not bringing in grandpa's.
The last thing we can afford to do is give away our 1st rnd pick or 2nd for that matter. We need to draft young talent for the future while only targeting free agents otherwise we will be going down the Freo and St Kilda path.
We have a 2 year window then it shuts but so do the Cats, Hawks and Swans unfortunately

Can't buy that line I'm afraid. Does finish and finish well. Also does the tough stuff.

And **** discussing this bullshit any further, just ridiculous.

700k

90% of Hawthorns 4 time premiership AA players aren't on that.

**** that he's worth 400-500k tops. Eddie Betts is on 500k FFS. No way Lobb is gonna kick 50 goals or help create 50 of them.
Unfortunately you have to overpay to get him to move. Apparently Freo have offered 2.4 for 4 years. We would need to offer 2.5 for 5 to have a chance GWS probs can only afford 2 for 5 years

Lobb went back against us and out Gov'd the Gov.

Moving Gov forward with Lobb back there with Barrass, Shep, Schofield is perfectly fine.
Not really. Gov had his worst game all season that game and lobb had his best game (mostly inside 50). You just don't move the best intercept mark and defenders in the business forward unless its through necessity (i.e injury). Lobb is a gun contested mark and let him play alongside kennedy and darling. Playing along side JK will improve his game and it will also help us transition him into our FF when jk retires.

I was Pro gov forward but not anymore. This guy could be our greatest KPD ever.

If he might be our greatest kpf ever then why would we keep him in the back line?

Yeh I'm just basing on that one clip too, but I'd rather froth over him next year than a geriatric front runner

For that coin he can go to Freo.

Going to be fun watching them try get all of McCarthy, Cloke, Hogan, Lobb, Emac and Schultz during the off season.
While offloading Balla's, Mundy, Dawson, Barlow maybe even Fyfe :D

Do we have 11? I'm only counting 7 who are 28 and over.

You are arguing exactly what I posit but you do not recognise that none of our so called unblooded types are playing specialist forward role at afl level at present.

Playing Harvey does not stop the drafting or development of these players.

Age biased standpoint from incorrigible fans. I want to win a premiership not romanticise about players that may not even make it in the afl system
Karpany and tunner all have had a taste of it. come next year, both could be ready for that role. I like the look of tunners and his ferocious attack of the ball/man is what we lack. He also seems like he can move on ball as a rotation. We just dont have enough strong bodies able to rotate through there and have an impact. Yes we smashed hawks in contested footy last week but we wouldn't do too well against better contested ball sides.

Footy is prone to being aged biased and theres been so many players cut or pushed into retirement because of their age. Harvey should retire and go down and one of norths greatest players.

Not a chance. Gov is good, Gov is great, but he's a victim of circumstance. 10 years ago and his type wouldn't be 'wasted' down back.
Come 2015 and everyone wants a lose defender you can read the ball and take a grab.
Besides near elite ball use by foot out of the back fifty that's all he really does.
He's not even close to McIntosh, McKenna, Jacko, Glass as a KPD.

That's a pretty big call this early in his career.

I've got 9 looking at our list on the website. The rest of the article is probably bullshit too. But still my point still stands, if we don't start developing some young guys we're going to freo ourselves in 3 years

watch the above link. He doesn't play lose and is one of the best 1v1 players in the comp. Yes he doesn't always line up on the big dawg forwards but he can and he has beaten them. The game has evolved and defence is as importance attack now. He is not just an asset but a weapon. He tends to be the start of our chain out from defence as well. You could even argue our defence is based around him.
