Bet you a carton we would. GOLD coasts 22 or 25 but the club won't do it.
I'm with you. There's no way a guy who's best 22 at a finals bound side isnt worth anything. He's 27, played 160 games, he's durable and would add something to their side just like Rosa did this year. The club should do it but won't. I reckon Duggan would take his spot, freeing him up to play his more natural game on the outside/wing, with less time on the ball. I think Duggan's going to develop into a more complete player than Masten so I'd take it.

surely masten worths more than rosa. Masto is younger, less injury prone, more skillfull and has much better endurance with more runs on the board. yes he is a failed pick 3 but he has been a very good second tier mid in the last 5 years. Picks 25-30 is probably his worth.
Agree. Draft picks are so hit or miss but we tend to rate them like they're a sure thing. Masten is what he is by now, but definitely best 22 in a finals side. A second round pick could be Tom Lamb, or Gerrick Weedon, or Luke Shuey.

McKenzie isn't tradeable anymore. Everybody knows he is coming back from an ACL and in horrid form. Every supporter wants to package a WAFL/VFL player into a trade - it doesn't work. Barrass is the only player in our backline that clubs will want.
McKenzie is most certainly traceable in the sense you mean it. There are probably 5-6 clubs I can think of who have/will enquire about McKenzie.

Do you know if the club is targeting any of GC's second rounders mate? Are there any murmurs of moving on more than Mackenzie, Brown or Lamb?

They've got 21, 22, 25 and 28 according to this article. It assumes they finish 14th which is correct.

They could have way more picks than they need after Prestia, O'meara & Swallow leave, they're going to need some experienced players for the next couple of years, I'd be throwing any and all of our fringe players at them and seeing what we can get back in picks

Sounds a bit like Brisbane after the 'go-home five' circa 2013.

its a very deep draft this year so we could find someone decent.

what do you think he worths?
In a pure sense somewhere between 15 & 30. People forget quickly how good he was. Sure he missed a yr & lost confidence this season but he certainly hasn't dropped to "nil value" as some here suggest. If Carlton couldn't swing deals for say Marchbank & Tomlinson - then he would be worth every bit that as a teacher to Weitering.

WC will want a serious return or he stays.

Absolutely. We could find someone. But we could just as easily strike out. That's the nature of draft picks. I'm as guilty as the next bloke of seeing a few minute highlight film and reading comparisons to star players. But we need to discount those projections substantially based on the uncertainty of it all. It's why players like Masten are rarely traded unless they want out.

yeah. my original comment was for those that don't rate masten netting us a decent pick.

Thank christ you answered this BOND 007

Ridiculous to think Eric has no currency.

He'd be worth top 15- 20 pick I would've thought?

EDIT: just saw your post re: his worth
