and a guy who cannot get into an average port sides gonna make it better. I rather back in the talent we have. Plus we will be getting a few more mids this draft as well.
Wouldn't improving our starting midfield improve our midfield depth (and make us a much better team) by pushing some of our current starters out of the team?
I'd honestly rather use it in the draft, you know what you're getting with Ah Chee (and it's nothing outstanding), who knows what you'll snaffle with pick 30. Maybe if it was similar to the Cripps deal.
With Duggan and Partington pushing for game time next year one of those HFF positions needs to be opened up. Redden and Jetta get in a good preseason and we retain Tunbridge and he stays fit there is a big surplus of players gunning for Mastens spot.
Masten may be named some times on HFF but he
picks up most of his possies at HBF and wing . Along with gaff our best 2 way runner always getting back and helping our rebound from defence .
At his best he can help us be a top team and is worth more to us than a 20s pick in the draft who may end up crap .
Both dug and parto have a long way to go to fill masto shoes

Next tier - Sheed, Hutchings, Yeo, Masten, Jetta & Redden
Hard to argue - bar Sheed who for mine, has given us an another option in the clinches. Yeo by far the most disappointing of the lot, Jetta close 2nd. Redden has also been woeful, I'll give him a full preseason to get back to his bullocking best that I saw glimpses of when at Brisbane.
Yeh, there's some spuds picked there for sure, was just trying to make the point that with the proposed trade we'd be trading Masten for the chance of picking up a quality player. Sure it's a risk but I see Masten as expendable anyway.
No, I know, but like I said if he's going to cost us pick 30ish then I'd rather use that pick in the draft on someone who has the potential to be better than Ah Chee. Obviously no gaurantees but as I said before with Ah Chee you know what you're getting and it's probably not someone who's going to be running through our first choice midfield in 3 years time, pick 30 or whatever could be.
