No assessment of out trade draft needs can start without understanding where we sit.

Backs are B+ to A, Mids are C+ and forwards are C +. Why forwards - JK is ageing and only good on the lead, Jack fumbles hopelessly below his knees and isn't a second tall. Hill adds a bit. There isn't anyone else. Mids are obvious.

Thus we need competative strength, pace and skill in forwards, mids and need to ID a key forward. Without lifting in these two areas we are bottom half of the 8 at best going forward.

Claremont. New England Patriots.
Hawthorn has shown when you are in a window as we are then you trade for players not draft picks.
Draft picks are only hopefuls they don't guarantee anything, we need to trade for midfielders its that simple.
Bloody hard to do though.
And there lies the problem GWS as there aren't any players that are coming out of contract this year that we would want .....the quality is very thin.
Other than that you have to pay massive overs to get a player trade with a Club that has a player still in contract.
Plus we have the added disadvantage of player generally not wanting to come West as the burden of so much travel shortens their playing careers.

I know its not happy reading but its unfortunately how it is.

He's been spotted having coffee with Essendon staff in the past and is known for browsing for eastern states real estate.

Wasn't the coffee with dons staff halfway through his first year when we traveled over to play you? Or has this happened again in more recent years? Cheers
I think it happened again this year to identify which schools he could send his future kids to.

Just pulling the piss sorry mate, bit of an inside joke around these parts.

I would trade McKenzie for Neale
Not enough and surely he'd want to go back to Vic if he does leave.

Masten and a pick for Prestia
Again not enouh unless you're talking about our first pick.

Neale - Prestia - Sheed - Shuey
I see the same issues with that midfield as our current set up. Too small, no ability to go forward and all of them will get monstered if a Fyfe or Dangerfield or similar took them to the forward line. We lack big bodied midfielders

Obviously there would be scope and room to move like their is in any trade but i think it's a good starting point. Disagree with them not making a difference Neale is a contested animal averages more a game than Dangerfield. Prestia wins his own ball and gets it moving something we have struggled with in stoppages. Shuey- Neale-Prestia-Sheed Would be a pretty serious midfield !!

Galluci is some player his kicking is the best i have seen from the u18 Championships Very Mitchell like !!
That kid is a freak, what a third quarter. Would be huge if he slipped to us. [edit: whoops thought you said Ainsworth. Galluci went missing third quarter but had a great first half]

Just had someone who knows a thing from time to time suggesting Darling might be up for trade at the end of the year.

Surprised me to say the least! I asked if Darling was restless and was told that it was the club looking to move on. Not happy with his physical intensity and ongoing lack of forward pressure. They are also wanting that third tall type player to be able play midfield minutes and impact around the contest.

I'm calling BS but it does make you wonder about the drafting of Lamb a bit more...

I could see it if it doesn't cost us much. Then trade Darling for a decent mid. Not that I'd necessarily do it but I could see where they're coming from
