That kid is a freak, what a third quarter. Would be huge if he slipped to us. [edit: whoops thought you said Ainsworth. Galluci went missing third quarter but had a great first half]
Gallucci had a quite 2nd half. Ainsworth turned it on in the third.. Great game. Mcluggage Brodie Brown were impressive !!

Just had someone who knows a thing from time to time suggesting Darling might be up for trade at the end of the year.

Surprised me to say the least! I asked if Darling was restless and was told that it was the club looking to move on. Not happy with his physical intensity and ongoing lack of forward pressure. They are also wanting that third tall type player to be able play midfield minutes and impact around the contest.

I'm calling BS but it does make you wonder about the drafting of Lamb a bit more...

Whilst your mate may "know a thing from time to time" - it doesnt seem to be about footy & certainly doesnt extend to WC & Darling

I wouldn't mind Trading darling to get coniglio at the end of next season but that would make our forward line pretty weak. Darling is 45-55 goal a season player and apart from him we really don't have a forward that does that (JK excluded). We could move Gov up forward but it could unsettle the defence.

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't your contacts saying that we preferred keeping Sinclair over Lycett at the end of last year? Possible that not everyone in the organisation is on the same page in how they view the players (much like on here most of the time).

I don't mind Barrass back there to be honest, obviously you'd prefer to clone McGovern but I honestly think he's going to end up playing a large part of his career up forward. I think he's got the potential to be a 60 goal+ forward.

WC wanted to keep Sinclair and Lycett. Sydney wanted Sinclair for Jetta.

Whilst not everyone in any organization will hold exactly the same views, I know of no-one inside WC who would think it a good idea to move on Darling.

Yeah would be surprised if we ever traded Darling or even him wanting to leave. On target to get 40-50 goals this year.

What are the clubs plans with Lamb?

I think the idea is easy to identify and understand -doesn't hit packs, chases but mostly doesn't tackle, fails to mark or kick at clutch moments and a big fumbler

good to very good trade bait

Yeh, I'm not saying we should trade him but he's not exactly untouchable in my eyes if the right deal came along. I think we need to explore options to improve our midfield so I wouldn't be against them seeing what they could get.

Obviously you're not a fan
he isn't a second tall or an athletic skilful player. He has poor hands and is very poor below his knees. Is it a coincidence that he drops chest marks in big games and misses clutch goals - with regularity. I think he is one player who may have a trade value that exceeds his value to WC thats all.

This is what I don't get . If we didnt want to give up Sinclair then why did we ?
We seemed to bend over to get jetta who was out of contract , has had a steady decline in form since his only great season ( 2012) and has had work rate issues ( lazy and soft) .

Almost everyone on this forum though we got a dud deal .

Are the people at Wce who rate darling so highly the same as who rated jetta so highly ?

I think that darling wanting to leave is BS but the reasons why are accurate to some extent

Do we have the worst depth in the AFL right now?

Its like a spud farm down at east perth. Got a handful playing ressies, and the rest aren't exactly doing anything particularly impressive to warrant a call up.

If our depth would put their hand up the axe would have swung on the senior side already, but nope, Marsden and the gang will continue to be gifted games until this changes.

Rather disappointing when your reserves side is taking a constant beating despite a very short list of injuries to the main list. Is it talent or is it game plan or is it attitude? Based on the last month or so, Nelson, Barrass and Cole look like the shining lights against a very poor group of also-rans.

Watched a bit of the Vic Country v Vic Metro game today.
Interesting dialogue with Kevin Sheehan and Callum Twomey. Both called it a midfielders draft for the first round yet 3 or the 4 bottom teams are all wanting and needing tall forwards. Their thoughts were along the lines of Essendon/Freo and Brisbane trading down as the tall forwards at this stage would not warrant a top 10 pick. Would be funny to see Freo trading down for in 2014 when it was a KPP draft they went for Weller!

Does that mean number 1 will not be valued as highly as there is less of a need for mids for the teams lining up for early picks?

What is for us at pick 10 ish? ROYAL EAGLE and Monocle have been keen on Rotham due to his Hawthorn accuracy and ball reading! I liked what I saw at the carnival - he was not called upon to do that much but what he did was excellent and was consistent with his Colts form. Possible.

Alternatively Will Brodie would be a real asset in the midfield. Liked a lot of what I saw today and if the top 10 picks are going talls and academy, then he would be a gun. A deal with a Melbourne club in the bottom 5 - our first (say pick 10) and Lamb for pick 5 or 6? He is a Shepparton boy so he has already come to terms of leaving home to play AFL meaning less go home factor. I think he a genuine winner.

I thought there are loads of good WA mids in the draft that will be 3rd or 4th round and fill needs. I would be happy looking at Shai Bolton or Matt Guelfi with a 3rd or 4th pick. Zac Fischer had another good game against SA and he might just make it as a small crumbing forward. He would need to learn the role but he is quick and has good skills. If we want big bodied, then Zurhaar would be another.

Word is that the 2017 is a special one. The expectation is that a premium will be paid for anything in 2017. Would Essendon be prepared to take our 2017 1st round pick for their 2016 first round? Chuck in Lamb if need be and get back a swap of 2nd or third round picks! SPS may just be worth going for.

he was offered enough money to change his mind - then we were in a position where we have to get the best deal

You missed the step where he came to the club with what he was being offered and he was told in the nicest terms possible we wouldn't go close to matching the offer.
