That bloody dribble kick though....
http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/live-hq-pies-v-eagles/story-fnelctok-1226474811205
"Streaming off half-back with options galore in the centre, Embley looked likely to help put the Eagles further in front.

Yet, the veteran Norm Smith Medallist inxeplicably grubbed it 10m to surprised Magpie Dayne Beams. Beams popped it over to Tyson Goldsack inside 50, who converted in a massive momentum-shifter.

The Magpies, four points down after conceding the first two goals of the final term, regained the lead and the deflated Eagles suddenly lost their faith.
From that moment, eight minutes into the final term, West Coast did not score again.
"

Just goes to show that for a long time this side has been mentally weak, and has lacked the capacity to stop opposition teams from getting a run on (which i think has been one of our major weaknesses this year; our ability to address shifts in momentum and stop our opponents from capitalising on them, scoreboard wise). We have good leaders in defence and up forward, but we desperately lack leadership in the midfield; the place where momentum shifts can be arrested and games are won. I don't know where that leadership is going to come from, but i hope it does.

And? You'd think if anything, Duggan has had it easier, playing in every game from last years grand final team. Compared to a basket case that is fremantle.

He's had plenty of opportunities to "pad his stats" against shit teams every time we flat track it up.

Agreed Weller looks good. Played forward last week and dominated. We could use his zip right about now.
no way when we flat track we rebound from Hbf (Gov, hurn Shep wellers ) by pass a lot of our mids usually using gaff lecras shuey masto straight to our forwards .
Duggan may get some link up but he is ignored forward of Centre .
He doesn't get anywhere near the same time on ball and around the contest .
I'm usually surprised when i see Duggan at a Centre bounce

its not just wing we have an issue. its run off half back. Apart from wellingham we really dont have that line breaking half back (that can actually defend). Im assuming tommy cole will cement that spot. But TBH Masten, lecras and wellingham are having a bad patch and two of them have come back from injuries. once fully fit their solid contributers to the side.

I haven't seen mutimer but does he have speed?

Equal fastest over 20m in the 2015 combine (2.88 sec)

Also - didn't realise he was Darcy Parish's twin brother

Jeez we have so many holes to fix at the end of this season. a crumbing forward, and Multiple inside mids are our most important needs. But we also need another ruckmen (preferably someone who can have an impact forward as well), a key defender to develop and a couple outside players. Gaff's loss will be massive (if he leaves) as he is better than all our winger even when his not on.

My 2 cents worth is that I don't belive our team is as bad as what we are looking. Last year we made a GF with the same team. This year players are coming off injuries and just plain out of form. And make no mistake, the loss of Sheed is a big one. His kick inside 50 was so penetrating and JK had silver service with his kicking. Redden shouldn't have played R1, coming off an injury, should have build himself up at EP, giving him confidence to come into the AFL and dominate. He should be helping Priddis in the middle but right now he looks like a poor mans Scott Selwood. Jetta hasn't worked out, I think he will perform better next year after another preseason with West Coast but I don't think he will ever be anything more than average. Unfortunately for us we can't just drop our out of form players as we have seriously FA at East Perth. I don't believe trading Gaff and/or Darling will be as beneficial as some of you all belive. The best teams get better by adding to the team, not sideways trading. Gaff not tough enough or hard enough for some of you? He's not meant to be. He is in our team for our outside run. As for Darling why in gods name would you want to trade our a young forward that most teams are crying out for that has the capability of kicking 50+ goals a year? Target Cam McCarthy and watch Darling thrive as a third tall. Yes we need a midfielder, a gun midfielder, but we can get one without trading our guns. Offer picks for Omeara, he's more than worth the risk. /rant over

in midfielders draft, O'meara might not worth the risk. I think swallow is probably a bit safer.

I definitely agree but I don't like our chances of getting him, if he leaves I'm sure he will want to find his way over to play with his brother.
yeah thats true but i think paying him bit over the top wont hurt. Plus its basically now or ever for north as they got a really old list. for us our biggest weakness is our midfield and if we can fix it we can push for a premiership in the next couple of years.

*Ash Smith likes this*
After we delisted him does anybody know if he's on an AFL list or has he disappeared into the never never?p
Bit painful watching Duggan struggle through this year arguably getting wose and worse whilst other rookies are eclipsing his output.

Averaging 13 touches a game, Blakely is averaging 20, Weller 14 plus 9 goals.

Meanwhile Partington is playing WAFL reserves :screamcat:
Perhaps he's got the second year blues, and also consideration has to be given that he was out for a fair chunk of last year with a knee injury.

Ash & his GF Courtney moved back to Victoria. Turned down a few offers to play in the VFL and signed with Berwick in the South East F.L. Still there today. (top of the ladder this year)
Pick 36 Ash Smith
39. Steven Motlop
44. Rory Sloane
;)

That was a bad, bad selection. To think we could have picked Sloan ... just what we need.

Horrific selection in hindsight but I think I remember reading back through some 2008 phantoms last year and many were talking Smiff up as a top 20 pick IIRC.

I bet a lot of it stemmed from his record breaking sprint time too.

Jesus, Sloane or Motlop would be ridiculously handy right now. Though wouldn't be surprised if Motlop was also delisted by now given our poor track record with players with commitment/consistency issues
