Do you think we may want to trade pick 26 to Brisbane for Docherty? Trump the Blues pick by 5 and piss them off big time?
disco said yesterday we'd take 2 picks into the draft, this'll be one of them.

also we've brought in 2 back flank/outside mid types, we don't need another, as good as he may be.

Since the off-season has started, we've:

GAINED Chapman, Edwards, Aylett, #26 (and #58 when we trade Gumbleton).
LOST Crameri, #48 and Gumbleton.

One is an injury prone tall who will fall behind Daniher in a matter of time, whilst the other is a damaging forward. Effectively, we've lost one gun forward but gained Chapman, #26 and Shaun Edwards. A smart, driven and champion small forward capable of pushing into the midfield (also hates the Dawks), a young and talented defender, and a second round draft pick which in the past we've used to draft players such as Carlisle, Zaharakis, Colyer, Pears and Merrett.

We've done a good job this trade period considering the circumstances after the supplements shit

Understand
That means our 3 draft picks will be 58 (if that's what we get for Gumby), 66 and 84. No thanks
that, but would Docherty be like a new recruit and the other picks are a rookie upgrade and stab in the dark? And if we had to let one more player go that would most likely be Davey? We can always redraft him? I know that that would mean we have effectively not drafted anyone new to our club this year, but the players we have brought in are ready made, meaning they don't need that initial development first year players require.... Taking into account next year we do get that pick at the end of the first round. Just putting it out there, pick 26 for Docherty would be better then a first year player, well it would be a safer bet

Thoughts on picking up Jay Kennedy-Harris with pick 26?
Asked that question about a hundred pages back myself but didn't get a response :( Hopefully you get more luck cause Id really like to hear what people think. Personally, I see him as perfect for one of our real needs - that smart, crumming small forward that can push into the midfield

We look like serious dickheads at the trade table now. Playing hard ball, sitting on it, trying to involve 3rd parties, then going ahead with the deal that could've been done on day 1.
How do we look like dickheads? We tried to get a better deal, which was our right, and probably spent the time trying to change Crameri's mind about leaving. Nothing gained or lost by waiting here.

imagine trying to involve 3rd parties?!! The disgrace! How dare they take their allocated time to explore a better result.

Now the Gartlett hype can kick into full gear.

For Swan Districts last year he average 15 possies, 2.5 goals and 1.6 tackles. He may not play much in the seniors but a full season in the VFL will give us a good, close look at his new attitude and if he can string it together a full year.

That is so dumb and really showing you have no idea how trading works. Yes we got the same deal we could have gotten on day 1, but it would have been truly embarrassing to just accept it rather than trying to get as much as possible. We always knew pick 26 was there, it wasn't at risk of being taken away. They tried to keep him, tried everything to put together a deal that was best for us.

By the sounds of it you want us to be bitches and accept whatever the other clubs offer.

Would pick 26 on Dayle Garlett be too high?
Not in the slightest, if he's available then we should definitely grab him. Dodoro has said we'll take the "best player available" when it's our turn to pick, and on talent alone in the last 2 years he's been touted as a potential top 10 selection.

When the idea of Crameri leaving came up I was really hoping he would stay, after the last few weeks...stuff him!!!

Can't wait to see him put in half hearted chases when Dempsey, Pig and Dalgleish run off him and watch him kick for goal off a lazy two steps and miss.

Have fun in September Stew when your end of season trip is to Bacchus Marsh and we are playing finals...can't wait for the Bulldogs to continue to be our b1tch like the last few years.

Good luck Stew getting fit and staying injury free at Whitten Oval when you could be training at the best facilities in the league...good luck Stew when you go to the Dandenongs for your high altitude training instead of Colorado.

Bitter much haha?!!

No shit guys, first sighting of trade, typing before thinking. Oops.

Mental note: Never again type on BigFooty before thinking.

To save you and everyone looking further, this was put up by myself moments afterwards, but well before you all decided to call me out (EDIT: damn formatting... I was referring to the"perspective..." bit, not hurlygurdys quote):

hurlygurdy said:
Don't know whether i'm rationalizing reality or not, but all in all i'm really happy to replace Crameri with Chapman + 26. That pick mitigates the sanctions and looks after our future, while Chapman provides us with a forward who has a half decent chance of performing in the second half of the season (unlike Crameri).
Perspective, I like it.
Next time I'll stick to slagging him on his player thread instead, it is the far more correct thing to do apparently.

I'm glad we held out as long as we did, stuff the rest of the clubs if they think they can push us around because they know we don't have much in the bank atm. We tried to improve the deal, couldn't and got a mid 20's pick for a bloke who probably doesn't (and never will) realise how good he had it at our club, we avoided the worst case scenario of him leaving for nothing.

Pick 26 is what we have, so lets see what we get!

Barrett is a two faced bitch. A few weeks ago he was laying the boots into EFC for not taking pick 22 blah blah blah, now he is saying that understandably it took a while because EFC was trying to talk the player around and the trade period doesn't end until tomorrow. Wanker.
