I agree that PSD has no place now.. especially when there is FA..

Otherwise it is draft tampering and does mean that players can bend clubs over..

At least if you had to throw yourself in ND then it would discourage players being stubborn about trade options..

I would add that IF you were to scrap PSD and have ND.. then any players who have been on a list for 2 seasons or more MAY put a 'price' on their head.. if that makes sense.. they don't have to be paid recruit wages..

But then it means that anyone willing to pay the price can get the player.. plus would give rise to some interesting situations.. where exactly would a guy like Crameri go.. would it be first round.. or would he get the second round anyway?

I think this is a really good point. Essentially all it does is allow clubs to ream other clubs to get good players for cheap. I also don't understand the reason for it existing when you can pre-determine where you will end up. Sounds like draft tampering to me. Make players walk to the national draft and really have them roll the dice. May lead to more uncertainty and fewer players demanding to walk.
It would have been brought in for players unable to be traded, overlooked in the draft or state league players hoping for a chance. Now it is used and abused by clubs wanting a player they believe will get to them one way or another.....

Personally I'm not a fan.. but I know lots of guys on here have wraps on him.. again all relative to what you will get for 55.. which might not be a lot..
Might not find something I agree, but Dodoro and the other drafting/recruitment staff at Essendon seem to be masters of finding gems with late selections.

I don't understand what's going on.

People are overstating all of his deficiencies but some people are saying we deserved more than pick 26.

What is it?

As a leading goal kicker and a guy you are offering 1.8M too.. you would expect to give up slightly more than 26..

By the same token.. he has some weaknesses and probably shouldn't have been offered 1.8M in the first place!

Personally I would have hoped we could do a slightly better deal but with regards to losing Stew.. I'm meh about it.. I think we won't miss a beat on field and I think he will do SFA for the dogs..

Well I was trying to be realistic..

Jetta might be able to get us an upgrade from #58 to #55.. maybe.. probably not..
Heck, if the dogs can only give us 26 for Crameri then I'll be damned if we'll be fair and equitable with who we off-load for decent picks! Jetta, Gumby and Davey for pick 17! Maybe we can threaten to let pick 17 walk to the PSD for nothing if the Dockers don't now to our demands....
