the issue for me isn't being hopeful about it, which more or less sounds like the position of you and others. It's straight up believing in it and deluding yourself and more importantly helping delude other people through your own confidence. that shit deserves to be called out after the false prophets essendon fans have been exposed to all season.

I agree that PSD has no place now.. especially when there is FA..

Otherwise it is draft tampering and does mean that players can bend clubs over..

At least if you had to throw yourself in ND then it would discourage players being stubborn about trade options..

I would add that IF you were to scrap PSD and have ND.. then any players who have been on a list for 2 seasons or more MAY put a 'price' on their head.. if that makes sense.. they don't have to be paid recruit wages..

But then it means that anyone willing to pay the price can get the player.. plus would give rise to some interesting situations.. where exactly would a guy like Crameri go.. would it be first round.. or would he get the second round anyway?

The PSD works exactly how it is designed. The AFL want equalisation and the PSD allows bottom clubs to present stronger positions. If Essendon were trying to get Liberatore, the PSD has not leverage at all because clearly WB have a much earlier pick and they could threaten to redraft him. Although redrafting a player is unlikely, it does allow a decent argument to be made which may force a higher offer.

Clearly this seems too much of an advantage and all good clubs are going to be victims of this at some point, but it is exactly as the AFL designed it to be. The rookie draft will go but the PSD will stay.

Have you thought about becoming a list manager?

I don't get how Jetta has any value at all considering how badly most on here want him gone at any cost. Jetta's value is below steak knives, shit, his value is less than plastic picnic knives...
I don't like it. And i don't think it is properly deserved. The guy has been a good servant of the club and tried his guts out on 2013. I believe he did everything asked of him, and suffered more from trying too hard than lack of skill. If i was a club trying to break into the eight, i think Jetta would be an asset. We have drilled him so damn hard about defensive mindsets, we have made him play multiple roles, i think we have forged a decent player. Unfortunately he is probably a player that no longer fits our team because this is a team of freaking champions ;)

Yeah but it is time to move players in that group out for fresh faces. Jetta, Colyer etc need to step up or be gone.

Fair call, I was more pointing out his apparent worth (or lack thereof) based on perception on BF and the wider footy community... I didn't say he was no good, just that he has little to no worth in the game as it stands.

How deep is this draft looking to be? If we only got 55 for Gumby would it be better to upgrade Steinberg instead of risking some kid in what could be a weak year?
Very weak, really drops after the first 20. There is a reason why every single club is trading picks in the 20's. Also a big reason GWS and St Kilda want a stack inside the 20.
