That is so dumb and really showing you have no idea how trading works. Yes we got the same deal we could have gotten on day 1, but it would have been truly embarrassing to just accept it rather than trying to get as much as possible. We always knew pick 26 was there, it wasn't at risk of being taken away. They tried to keep him, tried everything to put together a deal that was best for us.

By the sounds of it you want us to be bitches and accept whatever the other clubs offer.

But #26 would have trumped Carlton for Doherty, who was a steal at pick #33

From Knightmare's mock draft I like the look of Trent Dumont, Jono Marsh, Luke Reynolds and Mitchell Harvey, to throw out players other than Kennedy-Harris (just so y'all aren't pidgeon holing him to be the player when we may not get him).

I agree. Im glad Crameri is gone. I know the club tried to talk him around, but its a good thing his attitude wont be around next year. (him still being a good bloke and all supposidly)

After watching him play that VFL game during the year made me so Dirty on him

I dont think its to much of a bad thing gives Hurley more Room to move i felt our forward line was cluttered at times and alot of balls were getting chopped off by crammers

Although we have a bucket load of youth, I'd like to see our first draft pick of this year become best 22 in there first year, we have't had a rising star nomination for a while, and none of the guys from 2011/2012 draft have cracked it in the best 22 yet (Joe will next year).

On WHO though that is the big question, you are really gambling this year after 35.
I'd say they've probably put a bit of work into some mature age players that will fill a specific hole in the list. It'll be like van Unen and Kommer, no one will have any idea they're even being considered until the name is called out.

Only thing is if we don't pick a kid this year and miss again.next year we will have a flat spot in our list in five or so years time
Not really, we've shown we aren't afraid of drafting older players. In fact waiting a few years to see who sinks or swims in the state comps from this years draft would be pretty sensible given how poor it is.

We are meant to be dead keen on Weller we could take him as a Delisted Free Agent but I don't think we have the room for him.

My thoughts

Garlett
Ruckman or Weller
Dalgleish

Rookie:
Duscher
Rucman/Weller
Project X

With the exception of Heppell our drafting in 2010 wasn't too flash either (only guys in or around our best 22 from that draft are Heppell (drafted 2010), Howlett (upgraded rookie 2010) and Hibberd (PSD 2010)).
Eh? "With the exception" of one of the brightest prospects in the team, and "only" another guy who's been playing AA-grade footy? Two top-end players in one year is nothing to sneeze at, and as a top two they're the equal of any of those other drafts. Plus you have to factor in Jenkins, who was traded for the upgraded pick that snagged Merrett.

I'm with you. Get the best kid we can, looking towards the future. Even if we get a more mature player like Garlett, there is still small chance of them contributing much next year. There is a big difference between the WAFL and the AFL, so he will have a year of adjustment anyway. I think we should be looking at the list we have to fill the needs of next year and probably the year after (FA excepted). We already have the talent for now, but we do need to be looking ahead to mitigate the sanctions.

Its hard to know what we really need from the draft for our list. One of the 2 picks will be a tall but will that come with our first pick as I think there will still be some decent mid types around.

Dumont
Dunstan
Tsitas

Eli Templeton (dyson heppell mkII)
Isiah Miller

What I don't want anyone under 180cm just don't think there is much hope for these players anymore they all find it difficult unless real top pick stars (Prestai).

If its a mid they need a big engine.

Would be happy with Garlett but I just don't think that will happen.

I agree we won the trade, but what else did you want? Pick 6 was no chance in hell especially when he can walk to the PSD, I didn't hear any whispers of extra players thrown in at all. Which leaves late round pick upgrades which in this draft seems to be pretty much useless. You got the best deal you could get, I don't see how some of you can't understand that. Yes he is worth more then that but you guys had no bargaining tools.

There was a very sensible three way proposition that was being discussed earlier today (involving swaps of second and third round picks but in a way that everything ended up being only slight down grades). My guess it was something like that but that Freo baulked at paying their second round pick to us.

I don't get how Jetta has any value at all considering how badly most on here want him gone at any cost. Jetta's value is below steak knives, shit, his value is less than plastic picnic knives...

So what you're saying is that he could be packaged with 26 and sent up to GWS for pick 1?
