We don't need any more defensive talls, we've got enough already.

You dont get it.

Many key talls whether defenders or forwards have switched roles after being drafted.

And history shows that good key forwards are picked in the first round of the draft, whereas good key defenders can be found in any part of the draft.

Is there anyone would prefer to sign Weller over Pears?

Surprised we haven't see Pears sign.. is there one more twist to the tale?
No there shouldnt be anyone.

We have SFA tall backups as it is.

Losing Hille, Crameri, Gumbleton and throw in plan f and g with guys like NLM, Davis is enough talls out the window for a team already struggling for tall depth.

At least in a bad situation Pears has to some degree played well as a key defender is now a 3rd tall.

We WONT have any PSD picks - so please stop.

We ATM as far as im aware only have one rookie spot open. That may change with last list lodgnments with guys like Dellolio, Steinberg ect but i think they will probably stay on for another year.

Id say we will at least take one tall considering we showed quite a lot of interest in Longer so that will come with one of our first 2 picks.

I may have mis-heard, but I think on SEN Dodoro said that we wouldn't be using pick 58 (from Freo) as a live pick anyway. Currently we have 26, 66 and 84 (Dal).

Am I missing something or is their movement with Pears?

usually rookies get cut pretty early if they are going to be cut, but still no official confirmation. Also it'd be two spots, hunter out, dalgleish up.

Trade Gumby out for 58 and we have 26 and 58 in the ND as live picks. preferably get a midfielder and a tall.

I doubt that Steinberg and Dall'Olio will be on the rookie list in 2014. That means we will have 4 rookies - Assume that one will be a ruck.
Disagree on the tall- go next year for the talls. Better draft and a KPP heavy draft next season. Midfielder/small forward would be my target, mature ruck as a rookie pick.

Port are deffs out of the race since they shut up shop and are heading back to Adelaide.
Peter Rohde said there was an inquiry on Gumby a week ago but Port backed away since Gumbleton is set on going home.

Maybe if Freo are not giving up 37, and 55 is obviously crap maybe Gumbleton and pick 26 for Freos pick 17 could be something.

Look I bet you that it has been asked by EFC that deal and it is one that many on this board have suggested. That said would Freo do it? Not so sure. I would rather just get some upgrades though somehow. I am sort of glad this week is almost done lol

If we got 58 we would use that along with 26 and upgrade Dal with 66.

True it is still a useless pick though, dead set dart board action this year where the top 10 will be good, the next 10 3 out of 10 will be good, and it will be lower after that. I am sort of hoping we go best available at 26, and then go for a needs based crumbing forward at 58.

Imagine the parties they would host

They already have one baby sitter at that club in Choco so they don't need to employ another. Richmond could advertise child care if Garlett joins, I think 5 kids per a worker so that's 3 spots they could advertise.

Anyway the serious stuff.

For us pick 26 should be used on Garlett or Karnezis and here is why. Obviously the club is pushing for top 4 and deep September action otherwise it was stupid to pick up Chappy and Goddard.

Our forward line is out weakest link, I'll say it will improve on this year. Derp another year older, TBC developing more and Crameri out Chappy in.

Both those player's play in the forward half, K as HFF and G would be more a FP player. Since we are just starting our window we need players who are young but also know they have the skill and body to play AFL. Drafting a 18 kid could be a flop while we know this 2 kids are ready to step in either the starting 22 or if someone becomes injured.

Garlett kicked 40+ goals from the midfield in the WAFL yeah? We need to boost our scoring conversion/opportunities, he is the logical choice (skill set and bio only)
I completely agree with your comment... Surely the risk is greater picking up a fresh 18yr old then someone predicted top 10 a year ago.... Or even drafting/trading for a ready made AFL player (Gartlett, Weller, Duscher). Our premiership window is now... It'll only last for a few years (3-5 at best) and we only have one or two pieces in the puzzle left to fill.... I just think this year alone, we need to go for broke and hope for the best. Chappy himself believes we can win one, lets help him get his 4th, fletcher his 3rd and help Jobe, Stants and the boys get their first taste at one.... I just think, if he is available (big if) that there is more upside then downside in recruiting Gartlett

Hey guys whats Freo's offer to you guys for Gumbleton?
I'd trade 45 in a heartbeat.

Think a pick in the 40's is right. I am certain that Power is the second club in question. I am surprised that you haven't chased Gumby harder, although Polec was probably a greater concern. And you probably would have offered Gumby a 2 year eal as opposed to Freo's one year. In saying that, last year Gumby accepted a one year deal from EFC, instead of a three year deal from the Bulldogs.

But ideally we need two more maybe even three talls in the next two drafts. You grab one this year if the right player is available. Don't forget that we effectively lost 3 talls this year Crameri/Gumbleton/Hurley - Fletch will be gone next year . And Pears has gone missing !

Small forwards are a waste of time. We have enough smalls who can't play in the midfield - read davey/jetta/Kommer/dell'Olio - And you want to add another one.

I reckon it could be he was thinking we'd get more for crameri. Either way, that late in this draft sounds like we'd probably pick some guy not on anyone else's radar. 58 might as well be 158 when you're drafting a kommer or DVU, that's the feeling I get.
