See, they're the sort of players who are going to have a major impact on our team, not swapping one ruckman shoehorned into full forward for another. Treloar is probably off the table, Greene would be in incredibly high demand if he was going to leave (not to say we wouldn't be in with a shot), but Taylor Adams is one who is likely to leave, or at least court offers from Victorian clubs. I have my eye on pick 10 though, or pick 1 if we could manage it. If we could find a way to get Tom Boyd and Joe Daniher together, it'd be just about the greatest thing we could do for our footy club. Alternatively, two midfielders with pick 10 and pick 11/12 (most likely) would be fantastic.
Or we coach two of the most promising young KKPs in the comp into confused idiots who don't know how to lead or lay a tackle.

The rookie listings and the drafting of players to fill the last few places on the list has annoyed me (except for Dalgleish and Gregory). These spots should be for guys that are not only long term prospects but guys who have serious physical attributes that can be built on (and that can make assist the side in the short term). Electrifyingly quick smalls/mids/flankers, mobile guys who are KPP/ruck size and huge young inside midfielders would be a good start.

So many of the young guys we draft, some of the mature aged recruits in particular, all seem so vanilla. There are few remarkable attributes that the senior side can use and it then becomes really difficult to see the finished products that is going to displace the 3-4 players who we probably need to improve on become a premiership contender (assuming that we will bite the bullet and accept that tactics needs to be addressed).
I've thought this very same sentiment for the past few years. In one breath I can see why the list managers draft guys like Howlett and Baguley for depth in a position, but we seem to be going over the top now drafting 'depth' guys in the national draft (DUC, Kommer).

We need to be drafting those project guys in the rookie draft from now on IMO.

TBC + Pears for Pick 1 is becoming more appealing. I'd probably throw in a switch of second rounders as well

Boyd and Daniher become our Lloyd and Lucas for the next 12 years. Pick up Sikora and upgrade Steinberg in the draft. Hurley goes back.

Forward line needs fewer hard working triers and a bit more class.

Sikora, Ceglar, Campbell, Renouf, West, Simpson - there's no shortage of options around.
would love West or Simpson. Tom Campbell looks like he'll be at the dogs for a while. Haven't seen enough on Sikora, or Ceglar to comment. Renouf if we're desperate.

Sheridan is the one that interests me. Supposedly he's homesick. Classy mover with good disposal. I rate him above Adams and about the same level as Treloar.

he could be available.

Sheridan From my mob? What would you offer?

I have posted on here before with my interest of some of your WA fellas.

That's a very good question - I imagine that jetta and Gumbleton won't be around - You may have interest in Gumby. I imagine that Freo could be interested in Pears/Hooker, though I doubt they will be let go. You could have interest in Myers, but again he is one I would keep.

Yeah I have some enquires about some WA players form your club.

I would want Gumbleton provided we keep our 1st round pick. I have said as well Im willing to part a 2nd round pick for pears with his lack of chances this season. Myers wouldn't be bad but Freos priority would be key forwards and Key defenders.

What's the story with Seedsman - Was playing well earlier in the season - Giving Collingwood lots of run off half/back/wing - Was getting coaches votes/Even being tagged - Injured for one or two about 6 weeks ago, and can't get back into the team.

He does seem to be a bit of a front runner, played mostly wing half back in his time and seemed to notice him in the front half.

Why don't have 3 or 4 spots on the main list and 1 or 2 on the rookie list devoted to ruckmen, recruited so that there is a spread of ages between them of between 18 and 30. We'd recruit a new one every couple of years with the expectation that a couple of them will leave for better opportunities at some point. In return, if we've recruited well and developed them into quite good players we'd get a steady flow of high draft picks.

Aha, so thats what Geelong are doing with their multitude of talls HMac, West, Vardy, Simpson, Blicavs and rookies Bathie and Walker.

Happy to see Campbell and Jenkins thriving and getting regular senior games in other clubs, but damn would be handy to have either of them now!

I think it's in our best interests to let TBC go to GWS. He's a contract away from free agency, and the chances are there won't even be any FA compo by then. His next contract will be exactly the same as this one, thrown all over the place trying to find a combination that suits Ryder who is a better player. There's a very good opportunity to chase pick 10, or if we have the balls to make a serious offer to GWS, pick 1. From Belly's perspective, he'd be #1 ruck every week and living in the same city as his objectively stunning girlfriend. On better coin.

Obviously we'd need another ruck, but reserve ruckmen aren't exactly in short supply.

My thoughts exactly. If we could trade TBell to GWS for pick 10 and Cramers to Dogs for pick 22 then that gives us some pretty good picks in the draft. Pick 10,13,22 and 31 surely Dodoro can find a few guns with that.

Might as well throw Hurley in there too. I'm sure we can get something good for him. Fletcher would be retired if Hird had the balls to do it. We can lose one other kpp/ruck at the most.

If we are going to be banned from the first few rounds of the draft, so be it. There is no reason to trade into it. The onus is on the recruiters to identify elite attributes in players who could be developed into the sorts of players we need (as opposed to taking the latest three foot soldiers from the VFL).

I haven't taken much notice of this years draft except for the hype around Boyd, who is the best midfielder going round?

If we happened to snare pick #1 for TBC+Pears and a swap of 2nd rounders, would we look at getting the classiest ball winning midfielder in the draft or is Boyd to much to overlook?

You pick Boyd, or you trade for pick 2 IMO. No point paying for the best player in the draft and picking the second best.
