I reckon that on current form White is a better fit for the side than Bellchambers is and that irrespective of who we trade, White would be excellent cover (not that I think he'll need to accept a position on a list as cover as Freo and Dogs will probably be looking very closely, I reckon that he has well and truly passed anything Sam Reid has done and that he may just be a best 22 player now).

I think there needs to be more focus on what Bellchambers can be before we trade him. Remember that he is still a young ruck. The structural issue resolves itself if over the course of this coming preseason Bellchambers develops at about the same rate as he did during the last and the result is that he can have more of an impact as a ruck (as opposed to just being a really good mark). It took Hille quite some time before he developed the endurance and aggression in his game that took him to the level of the game's elite rucks.

As soon as it happens we can get back to using Ryder forward and more match-up related selection of the two rucks (as opposed to being forced into playing Bellchambers as a forward because he isn't good enough to play in the ruck). When we finally get a combination of a hard leading forwardline which includes Ryder more than it doesn't we'll have more freedom to include Gumby and use Crameri as a flanker to strike a combination that helps every one to perform better.

The fact is, expectation is the problem, not performance. People expected him to be a star but now we have to reevaluate based on his body, what we have is a very intense competitive player in a forward line crying out for some hardness.
Lots of this, we were all floored when he single handedly bent over hawthorn, and we haven't tempered our expectations. Still got masses and masses of potential at either end, but he reality is he's still young, hes has bugger all continuity, he's only played 70 odd games and he's still I'd say our best forward AND our best defender.

No was are we trading him, not that you are suggesting it, but we have an absolute gun on our hands, we just need to be patient.

But that's just because White is a poor man's Gumbleton and by next year will be an even poorer man's Daniher.

I lived in Sydney for five years and saw countless Swans games live. White was the worst player I've seen get games consistently. To relate it to Essendon, White was the Sydney equivalent of Courtney Johns.
Surely there weren't other clubs who said Johns would be an acceptable back up ruckman though.

White is a forward only. A shit forward to be sure, but a forward. Not a ruckman, never a ruckman.

ok don't shoot me here, I reckon this could pay off and we wouldn't be losing much if it didn't.

Aaron Davey

RETIRING Melbourne forward Aaron Davey hasn't ruled out extending his AFL career with another club.
Davey says he will consider the options after his farewell game with the Demons against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday week.

"The mind and body is telling me no. But I'll sit down and weigh up all the options. I can't put a finger on what I want to do,'' he said today.
He has show in his career what he is capable of doing but the last few years he hasn't showed much (but who has for Melbourne?) with the prospect of playing 1-2 years with his brother could persuade him to play at Essendon for a cheaper price than what another club could offer. He is a short term fix but could fill the role of the small forward issue we have.

what you think?

This mature aged 3rd ruckmen we are talking about. trade Gumbleton and replace him with a forward who could ruck. Shaun McKernan if we are desperate? :p

In all honesty, I haven't been a big fan but the big red head thingy from Werribee looks a likely player for us. (Ben Brown for you guys playing at home)

Can mark, kicks goals and has been used through the ruck sporadically throughout the year.

Just throwing out names for that 3rd ruckmen we are looking at. Could allow us to cover two positions, possibly (Gubmy - forward. Hille - ruck).

Would only consider him if he is willing to pay us to play for us.

Seriously, the guy is done. He's been cooked for several years now. Great player at his peak but his time is up.

How am I off that mark about Polec.

Three years on the list and he has hardly played a game,
The first year he was underdeveloped body wise, 2nd year he was injured constantly and this year he has basically told the club he's going home ffs and doesn't want to play

But how do we know if he is good ?

You are making assumptions !

Sam Mayes is under-developed body wise, but has shown much more in his first year.

Yeah, that's a really fair comparison. Guy playing his first game in months, Geelong's 4th choice ruckman and a kid trying to break into a team that's won 3 of the last 6 premierships.

You've lost the plot this week Ethan.
But according to yaco every player who isn't playing AFL must be poor

That's not what he said at all.

Polec has been at Brisbane for 3 years as a number 5 draft pick. Early picks get given more chances than anyone else, and he still hasn't broken through for more than one or two of Vossy's "let's play everyone on the list ahead of Karnezis and Cornelius" rotation games. There has to be something more to it than just homesickness - if he doesn't want to be there, let him play footy. Either he'll come around to being in Brissy or he'll increase his trade value.

Adelaide or Port will get him for SFA now.
