Am I the only one who finds it absolutely baffling that we've accepted the need to swap good players for picks, yet the one with the highest currency and no spot in the team is the one who is deemed off limits?
We all know when it comes list management, football clubs don't take risks like this. They play it conservative. So it's not that baffling. TBC needs to force the issue himself.

If the bombers want the Dogs pick 4 then it would have to be for someone like Carlisle. The dogs would love to have him and i would be prepared to offer up pick 4 to get him across. Should he not face a ban that is.

Don’t lose hope Bombers fans. In the past few years we have had 1st and 2nd round draft picks such as Kepler Bradley, Leroy Jetta, Anthony Long, Tom Hislop, Andrew Lee and Jay Nash, who have not set the world on fire to say the least.

In the same period we have picked up Stewart Crameri, Josh Jenkins (found form at Adelaide), Ben Howlett, Heath Hocking as rookies; Michael Hibberd, Kyle Hardingham and Tom Bellchambers in the pre-season); and players like Bachar Houli and Cale Hooker in later rounds of the main draft.

Whilst losing basically 3 early round picks will hurt, hopefully we can trust in the recruiting people to really go above and beyond over the next 2 seasons to make the most of the limited picks that we have. Certainly some Crameri, Bellchambers, Hibberd standard players would be handy.

I would definitely not be against trading TBC if the right deal was there for the future. I honestly feel we could use Ryder as our fulltime (Goldstein, Maric) ruckman with a backup (Currie, Grimley sort). If given the sole ruck position, Paddy would go close to winning a brownlow IMO. Dangle TBC to GWS and see what we can get, gotta be aggressive considering everything that has happened.

What's the joke there? That's the only way we are getting the Dogs pick 4. ie it's not a realistic prospect

Exactly. If Essendon want a high first round pick then thats what it will cost for the dogs pick. Now if it's the dogs knocking for Carlisle then we may have to offer something up. But pick 4 wouldn't be far off the mark. No point giving us 3 players we don't need when we need to cut our list of dead wood as it is.

Sure, Why not. I wasn't trying to be a smart us but fair enough.

Atleast it's more realistic then Dyson + Slattery.
I'm not saying Pears + Gumby wasn't ridiculous, but you'd be looking at 4 + a very good player for Carlisle. Those sort of players don't grow on trees, and you don't get them from other clubs for just one pick, no matter how high that pick is.

I also wasn't saying Pears and Gumby was realistic. Just a thought as it does fill a couple of holes that the dogs have - I accept it isn't enough.

Interestingly, this trade period may be the busiest for the club for some time.

I think Crameri might make the Dogs think a little about what they want to give us. Gumby and Pears less so.

There is a little bit of overreaction to the draft sanctions from a list management perspective.

As rines very astutely pointed out we are looking at a pick in the high teens and two picks in the low 30s. The principle aside, it isn't such a big deal that we need to be trading for the sake of having these picks...but then again the rationale is that picks are more important than players so recent comments are not that surprising.

We have 6-8 really promising young kids who are not yet fixtures in the side (JD, Kav, Dalgleish, Hams, Ashby and Gleeson; Merrett will certainly get a shit load better with another pre-season; we can probably call on one or both of Colyer and Browne) and a bottom line of young-mid aged key players in the best 22.

The loss of players is not even going to be felt.
