We can take Xavier Richards as a rookie yeah? I reckon that's what will end up happening. Mckernan, Yeades and Richards on the rookie list.
Given they said the three rookie spots have been offered and accepted by players who have been on the Essendon list then i do not think that is what will happen. If we take Richards it will be in the ND or PSD.

In Quayle's phantom, we take Battle at 20 (becomes 22) while Gallucci, Powell-Pepper and Bolton are all still available.
I would take any of those 3. Bolton looks an absolute jet, and I don't get the question marks on his kicking - it looks fine to me. Powell-Pepper is an extraordinarily explosive player. Haven't seen that much of Gallucci and only going on write-ups.
I don't think we want or need an undersized key forward who is a bit of bitzer in terms of what he does well. I see any of Redman, Francis, Langford and Laverde capable of that sort of role.

Stephenson does his best work from the goal square so it will most likely be the other way around haha
yes very true but not many have seen him play midfield yet....don he is a jet..explosive pace..and is only194cm but sure he will grown some more...he has shot up this year growing 6cm .....smooth mover in the midfield...he will play a fair bit this year in the midfield at rangers and rest in forwardline....:)

I thought he was still 188 he didn't look much taller than that in the final he played in

Agree, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me in terms of list make up. It would have to be a 'best available' selection and to me he just doesn't have enough talent to go that early for his size.
Having watched him live a few times he doesn't move nearly as well as someone you'd hope he'd develop into, like Tom Lynch (ADE) and despite Lloydy's best efforts his goal kicking stills seems sketchy.
Would love a Battle fan to explain it to me though.

Langford, Laverde and Redman don't play anything like Battle. Battle makes up for his short comings with elite endurance, forward craft and good and smart ball user and he put pressure on the defenders with his strength in one on ones and he will hurt you with tackles and if your sitting in the hole he will run through you without hesitation.

Huge fan. I think he's going to be a star. He's on Essendon's radar.

Ticks so many boxes. Size, versatility, kick, leadership, competitive, etc.
Love his size (193cm/84kg) and that versatility to play anywhere (including midfield).

Correct me if i'm wrong but was he Captain of the Jets this season?

I think the argument is...do we need that sort of player or are there other holes in the list that need more pressing attention like...a true KPF, pure mids, outside run etc.

All good to have a player know what their weaknesses are and be able to work around them.

Yeah I think Francis would do better in the role Battle would play but Battle could allow Francis to play defence if that's what we prefer to do.
