I don't really agree with the last few posts expressing that Hawthorn are selling the farm etc, they may end up paying alot for Jaegar but if he returns and develops along how he once was they will have a future Brownlow medalist capable of carrying a team he was that impressive in his early years.
No single player can carry a team.

How does West Coast make an allowance on their list for two of the top 5 rucks in the game? It's an absurd waste of salary cap space which would be vetoed by any responsible director.

Why would Goldstein go to West Coast where he gets to be clear number 1 for 1 year following which he's sharing ruck duties with a ruckman of equal standing?

I'll believe it when West Coast formally announces its interest.

Mitchell isn't exactly a spud either though. You can build a midfield brigade around those two, plus they have a habit of picking up good players in 2nd and 3rd rounds, including the likes of Mitchell, Shiels, Stratton, and many others.

I hope he goes there, it absolutely pumps them. JJK isn't getting any younger, or Priddis, then they'll have to try and fit Goldstein and Nicnat in the same team in 2018.

Yup, look at Ablett, you can win all the Brownlow votes you want, but if you've not got talent around you, then RIP.

We're not comparing a spineless Gold Coast team full of undisciplined kids to the Hawks machine are we?

The reality is that Lewis is ineffective (I don't care for the bnf results) and Hill is average (with Hartung being the natural replacement). Mitchell hurts but that's the sacrifice they make to pursue an immediate rebuild.

It's excellent list management. Whether Hawthorn can manage the emotions of their players is another matter.

Yes, we did see something similar when our non-Dynasty of 2000 ended but that was both a miss-management of the list and the players. At least Hawthorn can sell a future based on the presence of three players who are as structurally important as anyone on the list as opposed to the inflated contracts of Mercuri and Hird.

Yeah Hawks have lost the plot now. Even if Omeara reaches his pre-injury potential of being possibly the best mid in the game he is gonna cost them the depth they need to get another flag.

They really must be confident he will be ok though to give up that much.

Smart business by the Hawks. Getting stuff done.

No first draft pick next year. Easily fixed. Just use a future first pick. Just like a credit card.
Must take 2 first round picks in a 4 year period so they cant do this, purely to nullify the theory you have stated
