Stewart looks like a right footed Daniher. Have watched some footage, loves to take his opponent on, bit of swagger about him, some real confidence, can't tell if he's lazy or just has that buddy like strut. Either way, Daniher and he are probably mates from the draft.

1 for O'Meara and 4.
They're gonna lose 4 anyway. If we don't bid on Bowes, Brisbane will.
I do wonder if it's worth our while to insert ourselves into the Jaeger deal somehow, as opposed to straight dealings with GC.

Ess gets 4, 10, 16
Hawks get O'Meara, 41
Suns get 1, Hanley
Lions get Hartung, Whitecross, Melbourne's 2017 2nd rounder

For some reason I can never separate GWS and GC in my mind.
One is an AFL franchise that wears orange, with stupid concessions to try to guarantee success, and the other is an AFL Fran......

Hmm. I see what you mean. I guess the difference is that one did it well and the other ****** it up.

Haha, it's funny, as I remember people being like "GWS got Palmer, Scully and a crap draft pool, and GC got Ablett and a wicked draft pool".

At the time, my thoughts were that GCS got better players, but GWS chose a better strategy with the profiles of their steals.
GWS drafted and even brought in, from other clubs, campaigners.

GCS drafted flashy types, brought in Ablett and a series of meh players, and one campaigner in Brown.

If that meant we finished up with McClug and either a Battle or Ainsworth I would be very open

I thought GCS brought in some stars, that would be aging by the time they challenged.

GWS got young guns that were yet to hit their prime, but would be in it when they challenged, and older guys that would be gone by the time they were up there, but could shape the young players on field with experience.

Here's hoping Melbourne turn their attention to Jordan Lewis and screw up the Hibberd deal.

Hibberd stays, draft McGrath, Francis third tall, floater, Hurley, Ambrose, Baguley sets up a pretty decent backline with run and some marking ability. Hartley, Brown, Gleeson, McKenna depth.

We've got another good player at 20 ready to be picked up in this draft. PSD should be used to plug another hole in the list.

We need to nail picks 1 and 20 like the Heppell, Merrett draft. Could be our saviour and ticket out of mediocrity.
A semi-positive post - who is this and what have you done with Kelvin?!?!??!?

didn't think he'd leave.
Missed 3 very good kids this year. Ahern, Jaeger & Steele.
What I know is that he wants to come back to Victoria and GWS are very understanding given his situation. He's met with multiple clubs, unfortunately for us, Essendon is not one of them. As reported, North are definitely the most likely.

I know how risky it is to invest in a player off 2 ACL's but I would have liked him on our list. Huge talent.

Because they didn't know at the time Vickery, Mitchell and O'Meara were coming.

Once they did they had to find salary cap space.

It's that simple.
What - Clubs plan to get players one or two years in advance - It's was well known that Vickery and Mitchell were going to the Hawks from around June, and the Hawks were always in the running to obtain O'Meara.

I agree with Brian Lake, it might be best if Jordan Lewis leaves Hawthorn, on that considering Melbourne are in line for Hibberd, could a deal result in Lewis going to Essendon in exchange for Hibberd to Melbourne and pick 19 or our 3rd round pick to Hawthorn

Would rather just the pick to be honest. Lewis has been a good player but he will be 31 next year (and I'm sick of bring in guys that're 30+). They can get Lewis with a future 3rd or something.

If they haven't been willing to pay pick 6, the Tigers should have traded a bit further down the first round, got something extra in return, then offloaded the firstie back to the Suns for Prestagiacomo.

Tigers are really giving the impression (yet again) that they don't know what they're doing.
Richmond is trading out the wrong player - They should be trading out Cotchin who has always been over-rated, but who probably has more draft currency

LOL

I agree it might seem out there but if the above suggested trades happened with us picking up a few earlier draft picks and if Melbourne are serious about Hibberd, and it would seriously melt the Hawks fans to see Lewis in a Bomber jumper.
