Agree strongly with what's been said about Kelly the last few pages.

Usually I'd say having a team full of stars can make really average players look great but I definitely think it's the opposite with Kelly at the Giants. Being stuck behind their ridiculous depth has him playing terribly out of position - stick him in a team where he gets more midfield responsibility and watch him become an almost instant star, IMO.

I'd definitely swap pick 1 for him. Not that it matters though, because it won't happen.

What is it that the Bulldogs have that we lack??

Tackling Ball winners?? Pace?
I think we're quite similar. They are a year of development and mostly a full list in 2016 ahead.
The names that come into our 22 are significant.
Hurley - AA CHB
Hooker - AA FB
Heppell - our best mid
Colyer - best runner/forward entry player
Myers - big bodied clearance player
Watson - what needs to be said

Take Bont, Libba, macrae and hunter out of that dogs team, plus Morris and their next best defender. See how they go

Ainsworth is a chance to go to lions - trade radio
Hard to pick.
If gcs held 1, GWS 2, lions 3 and dons 4, I think the following scenarios are possible

Gcs grab McGrath, GWS mccluggage, lions
SPS
Or same with lions taking Ainsworth
Gcs grab brodie, GWS McGrath, lions mccluggage
Unlikely scenario
Gcs take Brodie, GWS McGrath, lions SPS or Ainsworth, leaving mccluggage to 4

Pfft we don't have the midfield depth to cover 4 quarters of constant hard line breaking bullocking bruise winning footy
You are talking 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

We have Heppell, Hocking, Myers, Watson, Parish, Zach, Laverde, Colyer and Zaka outside, Goddard + Hugh McLuggage (I hope), Langford and Francis can drift through as can Kelly, Bird and Howlett

How many more do you think we need?

We have enough depth to rest our older guys and have them at their peak all year long.

We actually won the clearances in many of the games this year with our disposal accuracy being the main reason why we didn't win more games.

Quite a few people think he will be the best player in the draft. Could be a ripping pick.
Quick, good strength and balance (dare I say Ablett like with his core balance) and a great sense for goal.
Will be the steal of this draft. Was a number 1 consideration last year. I think he'd be clear favourite if he was 8-10cm taller

Are we in the mix for Prestia? We should be.

Prestia + another top 10 pick is a win. Not sure of the trade logistics but from all that's thrown up seems thereabouts.

Eg Prestia + taranto or sps or Ainsworth

He hasn't voiced any interest in coming to Essendon. In fact I think he said he would head back to gc if rich can't broker a deal

Not sure after telling a club you want to leave, you can then do a 'Mike Baird' backflipping like a mofo & go back to them? Not saying it can't happen either but would be weird.

I'd say we just wait and see on this one. Plenty to play out yet.

I think you guys are both wrong. This is a consequence of how good the Hawks have been but it has ironically worked out badly for them. They chased Vickery, Titch, and JOM. But they never would have expected all three.

Problem is you can't court a player, have him leave their club and nominate you and then turn around and renege on the deal because no player would ever leave to play for you again.

So they initially would have expected to have to find a few draft picks and ask a few players to take minor pay cuts but instead they had to lose practically all their draft picks and jettison important players. It isn't their fault - it is actually them doing what they wanted far too well - but they wouldn't have wanted it to work out this way.

They will be without high value draft picks for then next two years and they lost Mitchell. We and the Crows have shown that isn't a death sentence but when you take into account the fact that they didn't have a lot of high quality young talent to begin with they will be desperately hoping JOM isn't just good but a star.

My view is that Hawthorn was in denial re contested ball. Finals showed them that there was no point holding on because the game had gone past their team.

The mistake was re-signing Mitchell and Lewis when they did. It's a double edged sword, though, as they were still every chance of winning the flag.

If we get offered Kelly for pick one we should do it.
The kids a star and only 20, and they play him wildly out of position.

Got to say he is a perfect fit.

Extremely skillful running machine with the power to potentially play inside.

I really like him (and now think that I had someone else in mind when I was being critical).

My apologies I missed mcluggage and Kelly from our line up, incidentally do you mind sharing the link to when we acquired there services?

Heppell, Myers, Watson, Stanton Hocking, Colyer and co as good as they have been have question marks after a year out and only colyer has leg speed. Watson, Stants and Goddard closer to the end.

Anyway it's a midfielders game these days as the grand final proved you only need a couple of talls to provide a target but all in large get the ball, kick, provide a contest, follow up and repeat. Do we come close to the Dogs, GWS And co?
