The bold call to leave Geelong’s ‘bubble’ setting potential No. 1 pick up for the future

It was one of the toughest decisions AFLW draft prospect Lucy McEvoy has had to make in her life.

And no, it didn’t have anything to do with turning down tickets to watch her beloved Tigers in the 2019 Grand Final.

Based on delisting Miller and Moore this is how I see the breakdown of the list.

For mine a couple of KPPs,made up of 2 KPDs or 1 KPF & 1KPD is the priority. Another young inside mid comes next and then I'd look at adding a couple of midsized players who can play midfield or on the flanks.

If we could land something like this it would round out our list nicely.
19 Sam De Koning 200cm 85kg KPD
38 Dyson Holder 195cm 91kg KPD
39 Sam Philp 185cm 80kg Inside Mid
41 Darcy Cassar 184cm 82kg Defender
56 Brock Smith 188cm 81kg Defender

I would also include Pickett and RCD in the defenders list to, I would include Pickett in the inside mid area to and include Ross in the outside mid area to.

I would add McIntosh to the defensive group to

I would be open to looking into Ben Keays who just for delisted from Brisbane. Two years U18 All Australian, who never really got a run at it in Brisbane.
Odds are that he will not be up to it, but I think he could be with looking onto for a season in the VFL.

What do you guys think of Luke Jackson with our first pick should he slide? I still think gaining ruck depth is going to be a good thing for us, so a possibility of drafting an elite ruck sounds tempting

Pick trading options I would like to look at, assuming we only plan to use 3 picks in the draft:

Pick 22 = 845 points (Freo)
Pick 38, 41, 56 = 1071 points (Richmond)
Win-win.
Freo use 7, 10 then gain an extra 226 points for Henry bid-matching. Possibly 56, definitely 59 still there if they want a 4th selection.
Richmond have 19, 22, 39, 75....

Pick 29 = 653 (Port)
Pick 38, 41, 56 = 1071 points (Richmond)
Win-win
Port use 12 & 18, then have 38 + 41 (>29) to match Mead bid-points. Also gain 56 for extra points or 4th selection ahead of 66,67,68,71
Richmond have 19, 29, 39, 75....

Pick 30 = 629 points (Hawthorn)
Pick 38, 41, 56 = 1071 points (Richmond)
Win-win
Hawthorn use 11, then have 38, 41, 42, 54, 56 to match Maginnes bid instead of 30, 42, 54. 38 + 41 > 30 and helps protect their pick 42.
Richmond have 19, 30, 39, 75....

One issue is that Adelaide or Brisbane could go similar strategy with:
Adelaide keeping 4, 23 and offloading 28 + 37+ 45 + 49 = 1794 points
Brisbane keeping 16, 21 and offloading 34 + 48 + 52 + 55 = 1297 points.

Otherwise, I would offer 41 + 56 for a future 3rd ( hopefully 2nd) to:
St Kilda - 41, 51, 56, 82...
West Coast - 41, 46, 56, 91...
Collingwood - 35, 41, 56, 62.....
Western Bulldogs - 13, 41, 53, 56
GWS? - 6, 40, 41, 56, 59, 60 (extra points for Green bid?)
Win-win.
They would use as one or two of their first 3 picks. We wouldn't use, so increase our currency for 2020.

Again Adelaide could offer 37, 45, 49 for similar ( but they probably need more than 3 picks in the draft since half their team left )

Not sure. I think our ruck depth is fine, but he is class. If he were 205cm+ he would be a top 3 pick. But he's not, and we already have a few blokes around 199cm who are pretty handy in the ruck (nank, chol, balta, ccj).
