Who are we linked to? Higgins would only be worth if he came dirt cheap and by that i mean not just pick wise but salary he would probably be one of North most well paid players...

boring as it seems, and unlike previous years, I think we're in a pretty privileged position in that we don't have any MAJOR list deficiencies that need servicing via trades this year.

IMO, we should focus on continuing to build through the draft... just trust our recruiters to continue doing what they've been doing. it's the best way to get talent to the club in an affordable and sustainable way, without a doubt.

Actually Matt Clarke said it's extremely deep compared to last year in his recent podcast. Claimed that late picks will be of value for to this - which explains why we traded for a future 4th last year.
Interesting everyone else saying the opposite hopefully he’s correct

I did hear that MClarke podcast too, with only top talented picks in the first round followed by further rounds of even (not top) talent/picks!...if that makes sense...

The way our strike rate is with lower picks compared to our higher picks i'd nearly trade our 1st rnd pick for 2 3rd round picks.

Only issue with the draft is some say it’s not very deep and quite average

I feel like I hear both every year

I don't think he said that. Last year's was one of the deepest ever, hence we got Ross at 43, Turner at 58 amd Stack at infinity.

Yeah I'm staggered at our current success rate in Draft picks...if you can consider picking Lennon before Cripps, a successful draft pick rate! :(

Last 5yrs we have been blessed.
Amazing what results you can get if a club spends money on its FD.

Man I was excited about Reece McKenzie, shame how that turned out :(

My take on what Clarke said regarding the draft this year was that last year they may have had only 60 draftable players on their board but this year they have close to 80. He said the quality of the top end isn't there however. For instance, the first 35 players have lower grades this year than the first 35 from last year etc.

* we nailed that 2014 Rookie Draft

Yeah that’s what I got from it as well
The top end talent is more limited but there is a lot more mid tired players

In saying that looking at last years draft class in a few years we will look back on it as a super draft so many emerging starts from it already

Will be interesting if we see clubs willing to trade lower picks in the first round for multiples in that 30 - 40 range
