Why the petrol trade talk. I would be pi**ed if we traded him. There is no need to trade him and who knows what his ceiling could be. I thought he has had a good start with the eagles. Out of all the small players we have picked up in the last few years, he is one of the few shining lights I beleive.
I think it's because we haven't extended his contract yet, some speculation that he wants to go home?

West Coast have continued their re-signing spree, with Brayden Ainsworth, Jack Petruccelle and Francis Watson the latest to put pen to paper.
The trio have all signed two-year contract extensions, keeping them at the club until the end of 2020.

Yep...that's a story from a year and half ago and his contract expires next season.

Good on the afl for stepping in with the suns . They were about as good as an average wafl team this year . They are losing players to FA and then having to pay overs to keep players .

Seriously they have to pay 600k a year for brandon ellis .

What they also need is the afl to come in and pump some money into a player wellfair program .

Just remember they didnt get anywhere near as much assistance as GWS did plus they had a shit draft year when they did get their consessions

Well the AFL had to step in, because it’s their **** up! The truth is there are too many teams in this comp and the GCS should be the first to be folded. They chose a ridiculous location to start up a team, a place where many other teams from sports other than AFL have failed.

Everyone knew they would be pushing shit up hill from the get go except the geniuses that run this comp.

Papley wants to break his contract and come home because he’s homesick. And he’s nominated Carlton because it’s the closest to where he’s from ... <checks notes>, Gippsland.

You serious? **** them :goldcoast:🔫

They are in the position they're in now due to being a basket case and horribly mismanaging their club. Have they even sacked anyone yet?

Delisting Jarrod Lyons for magic beans despite him being their best mid, pick #2 for Weller, the pick swap we did with them in 2017... it goes on.

Not to mention the ridiculous coach appointments over these years. Nobody to blame but themselves after sacking McKenna when the club was at it's peak.

I think the fact they get a priority 2nd rounder as well now pisses me off more than than them getting pick 2. Has effectively pushed all our picks other than 13 back 2 spots.

So now they're worth even less to Geelong in the Kelly trade.

Go **** yourself Fold Coast 🚽

Ha ha quality melt . Wce had far better consessions and the backing of an afl state with a monopoly for the first 7 years .

You really need to get some perspective .

A competitive gold coast benifits us by putting pressure on the other teams in the comp and it not just being a % booster bye week playing them unless your freo of coarse

What were the concessions we got again?

I feel like people rate GC too harshly. They had the basis of a good team a few years ago but were cruelled by injuries and then an exodus of players. They are basically starting from scratch again.
They were just starting to build a sort of culture and then they sacked McKenna for Rodney ****ing Eade.

That’s where their deep cultural issues started.

Peoples thoughts on Butler?

Should Rioli miss a year or more and Petro gets traded he could be a very handy role player and not cost a lot if anything. Potential de-listed FA even.

Premiership player, quick, good defensively and can find the goals. A nice depth player IMO.
I like him. Always looks dangerous around the ball

Didn't you know? The VFL were gracious enough to allow us to have about 7 less players on our list.
Yet we pretty much had a state of origin team plus picking the eyes of the draft .
With the team we had in an even comp we would have won 4-5 flags . Too bad the rules were heavily in the vfl favour

I admit to not having watched Richmond all that much (active avoidance of watching them would be another way of putting it) - but I think/thought Butler struggles to kick over about 40m?

If so I think that is too limiting in the modern day game. Might be able to get away with it as an elite mid - as there are more angles to work with up the ground - but around the 50m arc teams will just zone off too often (hence probably why Richmond aren't fighting hard to keep him).

No its not we have 2 1sts rounders and 2 2nd rounders to trade with . I dont give a flying fu** what geelong want cos kelly isnt contracted

Um what about landing another 1st to get Robertson or Rivers?

Would you give a "flying ***" about that?

Kelly will cost one 2019 1st so don't kid yourself.

I would trade Petro to land a quality mid.
