Does anyone know if Ben Brown was even on Dekkas's list of players the year he got drafted by North?

He was pick 47 by the way in the 2013 Draft.

Pick 6 = Mathew Scharenberg
Pick 10 = Nathan Freeman
Pick 65 = Tom Langdon
Pick 77 = Johno Marsh

Rookie Elevation = Sam Dwyer & Oxley
Was an interesting draft.

Really on the above it can only have been for Freeman’s spot.
On memory we were really into Bontempelli, Scharenberg then Aish.

After the hamstrung pick of Freeman, besides Ben Brown at 47 before that there was Patrick Cripps, Zach Merrett.

Sliding doors moment for sure......replace Freeman with Brown.

McLarty showing in year 2 that he could likely step up and have an impact. Still a number of years off producing what we hope will be his best but they can still play a role. Noughton this year another who has done it in his 1st year. Seems more dependant on the player.
Yeah. And the system they're playing within. A strong system will support and shelter the inexperience a bit.

I personally think if we'd have played McLarty last year it would have been too soon and I suspect he'd have struggled. But that's just my best guess.

We wanted Salem from what I can remember with pick 10, he thought we were taking him.

People continue to knock him as we don't want to admit it was a massive **** up by the club, he is currently 24 and improving every game looks a really good prospect.
He didn't ever look good enough outside of Essendon. He's only playing well because he's not the 1st or 2nd tall, he's 3rd tall Flanker. Always has been.

He'd of got to Collingwood and and not played well due to the structure and you'd of sooked as to why we got him.

Pies would have got him with a 3rd round pick, I doubt anyone would have given a shit.

Most delusional pie supporters will continue to make excuses for the clubs constant stuff ups, this was a big one.

Come on, we preferred to take a chance on a yank 210 cm player who had never kicked a footy compared to a father son key position prospect.
Would prefer Stewart in the side over Cox.

From memory his NEAFL stats when at the Giants were very ordinary - where he was probably playing as the reserves #1 forward. Think his success at Bombers is due to his lesser role in their structure. But he also looks as though he has improved.

I think the Stewart scenario (and Jake Kelly at Adelaide) is a lesson as to why I think we should take cheap get father sons. Rather than going the mid sized Mayne option, Stewart would be more handy depth at Collingwood at the moment.

Late picks for father sons is a no brainer, its one of the great things about our game.

Both have become decent players.
