Come on, we preferred to take a chance on a yank 210 cm player who had never kicked a footy compared to a father son key position prospect.
Would prefer Stewart in the side over Cox.
Hold on. One cost us nothing (he was an international rookie), the other would have. Not sure why they are being used as a comparison.

I'm not arguing the merits of one over the other here, but you can't use these two recruits as comparisons.

Thought it mite be, could not get the article up to read
The part on Dave’s post that said the “Pies thought they had him” is a fabrication.
Did we try yes but never did we think he was ours.

It is a good article and Stewart IMO is a black mark against Hine and our Club.

Good luck to him in the future I just hope he doesn’t touch it tomorrow.

I think we will have two scenarios year end.

1. Make the eight and look to trade Lynch in.
2. Anything short of the eight means back to the draft.

IMO the next five days is huge in where we are at. Zero two then back to the draft. One or two wins then look out.

Pies would have got him with a 3rd round pick, I doubt anyone would have given a shit.

Most delusional pie supporters will continue to make excuses for the clubs constant stuff ups, this was a big one.
If you honestly believe that GWS trades with us equally to the way they do with other clubs you’re the delusional one. We would have been forced to pay up for him just like we were with WHE during their fire sale with every other club.

People continue to knock him as we don't want to admit it was a massive **** up by the club, he is currently 24 and improving every game looks a really good prospect.
He was Dekka’s Golden boy for two years but apparently didn’t come on as expected. Still would’ve taken the talk ahead of Ramsey or any small.

I'm talking about the cost of drafting him.

Is there any chance we could trade into the number one pick at the end of the year, our first pick with a player to whoever finishes last.
There's always a chance but I think people would be horrified when they learnt which player it would take to make that deal happen.

They wanted to keep WHE. They didn't want to keep the blokes that they sold at a fire sale price.

It looks like Carlton needs some mature mids to help them develop there young mids. How about trading Wills or Greenwood for Carlton's third round pick in 2018.
I rather not. Especially only for a 3rd round pick. Greenwood and Wills are top 25 players (in our club) when fit. The key to us challenging for finals etc is DEPTH. We need 30+ AFL quality players to have any impact.

Correct.

Cox is different to others as Cat B.
He has now moved to list proper.

I'd be open trading both and keeping both.

Is this Greenwoods last year on his contract? If we are to keep him i'd want it to be for considerably less coin than his last one. I think we may have other plans for that cap space. But he isn't bad depth.

Wills likewise I can't see ever being a lock in the 22. But I like it he adds a big bodied hard tackling option in the middle that can step in. But his pace in transition is an issue. I like what he gives in the VFL too!

Do you think Carlton would actually want them though? Greenwoods kicking is suspect and I think goes against the Hawthorn-esque style Bolton is going for. And with Cripps already in the middle I reckon Wills might not fit the balance they'd want.
