The model Gerard Healy put forward could work.

If you miss finals for 5 years in a row you get the first pick after the first round.

I don't mind that because it is very clear and no greay areas like that bullshit priority the Dees got for losing Frawley to the Hawks.
Yeah but.. they're not factoring in quality of the coach.. the board.. the staff..

How on earth is it fair to reward these idiot clubs when it has nothing to do with the players.. and it's more to do with morons like SOS.. SOS f it up.. what.. we reward carlton with an extra pick because their recruiter is a moron?

I agree with what you're saying and it is one of the reasons the AFL sent Evans to the GCS and got rid of Eade.

We don't want to go back down the path like the COLA at Sydney or what they did with the Brisbane Lions in the 2000's.

I think the extra pick is fair.

I reckon I could handle it if Lynch stayed or went somewhere else, even if it was Richmond. But gee I'll have the popcorn ready to read the Richmond fans' posts if he comes to us.

I also fully expect some "we'll trade two first round picks for for him even though he's a RFA" media plants via the Richmond Media Mafia in Ralph, Caro, etc.

Has such a Treloar feel about it.

If the club is being run by a bunch of Muppets and Gypsies and the team ends up last 5 yrs running.. why on earth should they be rewarded.

The concept is ridiculous.

Clean up your act.. or stay the f down there.. equalization is bs.

It's not always about incentives re.

He doesn't owe them or the AFL anything.
I'm talking about putting the kid in the position where he has to think about it.. AFL should go to the heart of the issue.. no one wants to play there.. why.. cause it's remote football.. 17k crowd on the weekend.

And even if they have that Brisbane Lions period of success.. inevitably.. it's gonna go to the shit again..

Unfortunately the AFL will always prop up teams.

Without relegation then we will always be in this position.

It like Australian soccer no relegation no incentive because they know they will survive.

Bottom line is we got a bloody good player out of it in Howe. Funnily enough we lost one Collingwood fanatic and brought in another.

And really, given our list and the trajectory of a kid like Phillips, I'd much rather have an elite intercept defender than an elite winger (which Seeds isn't yet as he needs to maintain his current level for a good while yet).

That Seed is finally doing justice to his ability is good news for him and Adelaide.
Seedsman is ultimate downhill skier, plays well when the team is and being at a good team others are doing the hard stuff which he didn’t want to do.

Getting Howe for Kennedy and Seedsman is a massive win for us.

Not sure if anyone listened to Bucks on the hot breakfast this morning, but he made a very strongly worded speech about the AFL interfering with player movement when Tom Lynch’s name came up.
I wonder how restraint of trade would go down if it ever got tested in court?

Yeah the trade was a win/win/win. Except for Melbourne and Kennedy who were the losers.

There’s no way Lynch stays at GC surely. They are horrible. He needs to get out of there before his career is finished and he played in no finals and no big games.

Also Roos needs to stfu. Bet he wouldn’t be saying that if he was still coach of Melbourne.

When you compare Goldsack helping him in an interview last year when questioned about his future, Pendles saying if he wanted success he'd have to take less money than he could command and then Bucks yesterday, to:

Choco Williams (now gone from Richmond) saying they've been into him for 2 years, Rance getting on his high horse essentially saying "only if he doesn't take all of the money" and Cotchin awkwardly giggling saying they would "have a look at him if he fits into our structures" and "if he comes for the right reasons"...

It just sounds like Richmond have no real idea what Lynch is doing, nor are they on the same page about it.

But maybe I'm just biased :p

I only want Tom Lynch as a FA. If not, we are gonna have to pay through our nose for him.

Let’s pray and hope GCS finish bottom 3, and get an amazing compensation pick.

If anything last years draft/trade period showed us, was that the value of bringing in elite junior talent, outweighs selling the farm for one player.
