Ed bringing up the Melb game gate takings is not an accident either.

I think something has stirred this week regards Lynch. Would anyone be surprised after their effort on the weekend he has just said to his manager get me the hell out of here.

Coincidence that Bucks appears on radio (not sure if a regular gig) and Ed has a crack at the fact we have supported other clubs for 20 years?

Message may be interfere in our recruitment and we may stop being helpful in your equalisation methods. I know AFL has much more power than Pies but doubt they would want a fight with either Pies or Tigers at present.

Bottom line is we got a bloody good player out of it in Howe. Funnily enough we lost one Collingwood fanatic and brought in another.

And really, given our list and the trajectory of a kid like Phillips, I'd much rather have an elite intercept defender than an elite winger (which Seeds isn't yet as he needs to maintain his current level for a good while yet).

That Seed is finally doing justice to his ability is good news for him and Adelaide.
Yeah but we also lost Kennedy in that deal so thats an added plus!!!!

Bucks is a regular gig. All he said (my interpretation) was that Lynch should play where he wants to play and shouldnt be forced by the AFL to stay at the Suns with a special deal he doesnt even want. The AFL hasnt got that much power otherwise Buddy would be playing for the Giants right now. Reading between the lines you can assume Lynch is leaning towards Collingwood but thats in line with the general opinion anyway and not really news. Bucks point is that Lynch like every other player out of contract should be free to choose who he wants to play for

Good on Eddie for reminding everybody that we have supported Melbourne over the years on this day. They dont need the assistance any more and its only fair the home game is shared going forward. This was announced a long time ago as far as I remember. Surprised it hasnt been kicked into action yet, I thought it already had.

I reckon I could handle it if Lynch stayed or went somewhere else, even if it was Richmond. But gee I'll have the popcorn ready to read the Richmond fans' posts if he comes to us.

I also fully expect some "we'll trade two first round picks for for him even though he's a RFA" media plants via the Richmond Media Mafia in Ralph, Caro, etc.

Has such a Treloar feel about it.
The R in RFA is the key. If we have to trade we have to trade.

Suns can match or threaten to match, so like Geelong and Adelaide for Dangerfield a deal will ensure we land him. Best we can do is keep winning (and hope the Suns keep losing to enhance their FA compensation) and get Lynch to agree that Collngwood and our salary offer are right for him. Once 16 other clubs are effectively out of the picture, we then worry about getting a deal done.

Treloar was a bargain by the way, and it wasnt two first picks that he cost.

I'm happy to admit trading Seedsman was a mistake. Probably the only one we have made for a long while though. You cant win them all and even the trade itself couldnt be considered a loss given we landed Howe. But yes losing Seedsman was a mistake.

In terms of wanting him back....well no, hes gone, cant see why he'd want to come back, and he'd cost too much. Just need to back Murray and others in, and learn from how we failed to back Seedsman in.
Interesting take.
But as with these things the totality of the trade must be viewed for judgment.

Howe over Seedsman is a no brainer for me. I’d do the trade every day of the week. And twice on Sundays.

Paul S is a good medium type in my view but that’s really about it.

Jeremy H is a much better player bordering on even A grade or thereabouts.

But good discussion point.

I'd be amazed if the Suns didn't match absolutely anything that's thrown at him and force the trade.

Are you sure about that Timmy?

Maybe you should google what Fitpatrick said to Colless at the time and the subsequent draft penalties to Sydney that were never explained to the public.

It should have been......until Matthews stuck his nose into it.

Bottom line , Franklin ended up at his club of choice and the AFL couldnt stop it.

The AFL was just pissed that the Swans spent their COLA in a way that it wasnt designed to be spent in the unwritten rules. All the AFL coud do to retaliate was to remove the COLA and ban them from trading players into the club in the meantime. So all the AFL could do really was remove special privileges the Swans had previously enjoyed and were going to lose sooner or later anyway. But they couldnt force Buddy to play at a club he didnt want to play at.

True true.

Though the AFL still loves Sydney :)

They will not force Lynch to stay at the Suns.

I have enhanced my previous post. The Swans situation was different.
Of course they can't force Lynch......but if they knew about Buddy the end result may have been different.

They can make our life very hard re Lynch...…..IMO that's what Bucks was putting out there to the AFL public yesterday.
The Club is basically getting on the front foot. We don't want any trouble like that wanker at GWS caused us with Treloar.

In hindsight (if you consider how the 2015 and 2016 drafts panned out) it ended up being Treloar and McLarty for probably Harry McKay (2015) and your pick of a bunch of promising young midfield / half forward types (2016).

At the absolute worst that's push assuming that the players on the other side of the ledger end up being good and have solid careers, especially if McLarty kicks on and ends up being a 6-8 year KPP for us at AFL level.

Seedsman is ultimate downhill skier, plays well when the team is and being at a good team others are doing the hard stuff which he didn’t want to do.

Getting Howe for Kennedy and Seedsman is a massive win for us.
Technically Franz Klammer was the ultimate downhill skier.

But I do take your point and it’s a very valid point.

If we put in an offer and GC match it forcing us to trade, do we still have to pay Lynch the original offer or can we renegotiate the contract terms?

You’re exactly right that we want the Sun’s to keep losing. If they finish with the wooden spoon then they would be receiving pick #2 as compensation for losing Lynch, in that case they would be mad to match our offer with the hope they can get a better deal with a trade.

I'm well aware of this. My point was that Richmond at the time were using the likes of Caro and Ralph to shout from the rooftops that they were willing to give GWS two first round draft picks.
Bucks has a weekly gig on SEN. This was on a random Monday morning on Triple M which isn't a regular gig. It was disguised as Will Anderson praising Bucks for winning and thus keeping Ed in a good mood. But I agree, it seemed very coincidental. He wanted to vent/make a stance.
