Trengrove is a FA & so is Pittard.

I highly doubt he will go to PA. The whole reason why Lobbe doesn't play anymore is because him and Ryder don't work together.

I think PA will be silly to think Ryder and Grundy would be any different. And if Grundy doesn't like sharing ruck with Cox 65-35, he ain't gonna like 50-50 at PA

In terms of the rumour about Port making a play, I just don't see it. They're not in need of a new first ruck and they'll struggle to come up with the currency needed. I think they'd be wary of trading out a future first rounder too, they don't seem like they're in the position to do that at this point and they'd have seen the dangers of future trading with Collingwood certainly not expecting that they'd be giving up a second top 10 pick for Treloar.

Perfect trade period would be

Retain Grundy
Free agent Pittard and Reid
Draft best forward with our early pick
Aren't Reid and Moore pretty much exactly the same, lanky lead up tall forwards who can't really stay at home and wrestle... I don't think they'll work together too well seeing as they both like to do the same thing and neither will provide much contest for our long bombs which we love.

Hopefully a new coach we will start looking for targets instead of just bombing it in hope

Reid will get the best defender taking pressure of Moore and our first draft pick.

3 key forwards (Moore i believe will be the perfect 3rd forward) and Fas, Elliot is a great start to getting those inside 50s converted.

I wish we weren't. Would much rather get Reid as a stop gap and draft a KPF that we can develop properly rather than rushing them in to the seniors before they're ready.
A stop gap at what price? If we didn't have Mayne's contract holding us to ransom I'd say sure. But we do. Thanks Gubby you pr*ck!

Who is going to be our deep full forward in that set up? Neither Reid or Moore is suited to being a deep contested marking option. Both like to lead at the ball carrier and run and jump at the footy in the same manner

I'm torn on the idea of Reid coming in as a forward.

One thing we badly need is a mature forward that can provide structure and kick goals. That will take some heat off Darcy while allowing McCarthy and any other key forward we recruit some time to develop at a lower level.

One thing we don't need is a player that doesn't get on the field. A player that doesn't kick goals. And another underperforming player on a big and long contract.

I'd love to see Reids goal kicking stats filtered to the games that he has spent as a forward. Because his stats aren't encouraging but how much have they been impacted by the time he has played in defense? I suspect most of his career has been forward.

If his goal kicking stats are better when only a forward and the medicos are happy he'll get on the field consistently i'd be inclined to jump on the trade. If not i'd pass.

Hartlett, First Round Pick for Grundy and we pick up Trengrove as a FA.

Trengove is a restricted free agent , wanted and valued by port and he seems to love it here. I would be shocked if he left.

Pittard has already twice now publicly stated he is staying , and will sign when the cba is done.

Grundy is a weird one. If we didn't have Ryder Grundy would be an ideal pickup. Playing them in the same 22 for the next 2-3 years wouldn't be a good idea. I don't see how Port has the currency. Adelaide should be keen and have currency. Jacobs best is last him, the rest aren't proven. Lever and McGovern could be leaving.

Still can't believe I am still reading "if DeGoey doesn't come good soon..." and saying he could be Freeman-esque.

You've got to be kidding me. I'd only have Petracca and maybe Lever ahead of him at this stage*.

* without looking too far into the draft
Totally agree with you, I think De Goey will explode next year and have a huge break out season as a midfield gun.

Wouldnt Ryder help Dixon out up forward?

He has been for Sydney a mr fix it, back and ruck as well as forward, which the stats do not show. When forward his best games are when third tall.
My concern with him is his injury rate, and price.
A reasonable price, then he would be a big improvement on j white.
But he will not be our great forward hope, just a piece of the puzzle
