May would be awesome, one of the best key backs in the game. But we would need to use our 1st pick this year and some.
That would further set back our KPF stocks. We can't just pick up Reid and hope his body holds up, IMO.
We really need to use our 1st on a young KPF. Then pick up any FA's. Or land May via Sidebottom...we can dream.

I suspect if we were to land May, a Reid of some description would be our full forward next year...
That could legitimately be our best solution too. But only if we could still draft a developing KPF to replace Reid down the line. Keeping our first rounder and getting May would be quite a magic trick.

Almost perfect outcome if we could pull it off....just iffy about Reid TBH...last thing we need is another expensive list clogger who can't get on the park.

Agree. I would put someone like a Sidebottom up in a Trade for May. They might like Steele with Gazza most likely Leaving

The difference being that Schache is a 2nd year player, who was playing in a bad side with no experienced forwards, taking the top defender every week as a teenager with little development.

The media are ridiculous, but even they would surely know that any money spent on Schache was being spent on potential and I believe he'd improve pretty quickly in our forward line with Moore and Elliot down there already.
People said the same about Aish two years ago. Gun midfielder in a shit team with no other midfielders and poor development. We got Aish based on what he showed at junior level and hoped that he would live up to his potential. Although he has showed glimpses, he hasn't come on as the club had hoped. I like him but don't see where he fits in long-term. I don't know whether we can afford to pay Schache based on potential as well when he has produced nothing at all this year and when we have already sold the farm for Mayne

I think we need to trade for a key forward first and foremost because we don't have a genuine second long term option to Darcy coming through. We could afford to get a key back in the draft and develop them and hope that Reid, Dunn, Schade, Keefe etc can hold an end up for a while longer.

Really seems that everyone thinks the KP talent has really dropped off this year and it's probably going to be more midfield dominated first round again. Twoomey goes into it a bit on the latest road to draft podcast.

I remember this time last year all we heard was that this years draft was packed with KPP talent, what has changed in 12 months?

It might be a case of taking a decent but not elite prospect in the second round, ala Dawes 2006. A dependable sidekick is adequate if your front man is prodigiously talented.

Now all we need is an actual second round pick...

The development to go onto the next level just hasn't been there yet. Obviously the champs hasn't been played yet but the footy shown so far by a lot of them has been disappointing. The best KPF in Brander now looks like he will be trailed down back.

A lot of players seem to have also been moved from forward to back and even into the midfield and ruck. So no one is really sure where they will end up in the AFL.

Look at the last 10 years, clubs just don't get star forwards with 2nd round picks and above.

They are there, but they are hard to find. Something we have probably struggled with in the past is picking up tall players in the later rounds. Getting a McGoven type would have been awesome. Hopefully McLarty can change that around.

I think this year we'll see a lot of taller players taken from the second round onwards. There could well be only 3 or 4 taken in the first round. A bit like last year where there was only 3 KPP picked.
