I think we'll look to get two first rounders or look at bringing someone else in.
Surely not. Our list management/recruitment team aren't that aggressive. Only way I see a first rounder come in is if Grundy decides to go out. Don't think one comes in of the back of our decision. We wouldn't have enough quality we would be happy to get rid of.

Stringer was pick 5 mate, taking Fogarty with pick 6 is taking him early after the year he's had.

He showed enough last year that I'm still on board with him, particularly given he's been battling with injury all year but still managed to be competitive.
Before the Draft people had Stringer going around Pick 15-20. Lot had Tipped us Drafting him with 1 of the 3 Late 1st Rounders we had in that Draft.

Fogarty did show a lot at 17 but lack of Performance this year has me a Bit Worried. He is 1 we would consider at our 1st Pick which will be around Pick 4-8.

Though I think Stepthenson is another one that would be looked at Closely.

Though IF Hine Stays we might get at least Pick from Oakleigh Chargers. So could not rule out us Taking Jack Higgins with our 1st Pick. Hope not as we already have Crocker,Fas,Daicos and Elliot playing his Position

I've said this before and I'll say it again TD, don't get me wrong I don't want to lose Grundy. But I think it would be far from a disaster that everyone thinks it would be!!

If anything depending on who we bring in it may even make us better in the short term.

Perhaps, but I think they would be decent sweetners. They are SA boys with pretty big reputations from under 18 level. Especially Aish who has a long family history in SA. With a pick 6, it would have to come close. I think it's better than what most sides could offer.

Remember, Adelaide don't have a top 10 pick in their current best 22 (I've taken out Milera because I think he drops out when Betts is back). So if they had pick 6 and Aish (former pick 7), I reckon they'd have a think.
Brad Crouch was taken in a mini draft early as a result of GWS taking Phil Davis. It was expected if he went through the normal national draft he would have been a top 5 pick. Lever without a ACL in his final year probably would have gone top 5 as well.

As for Aish, there isn't much interest for him in Adelaide any more. He doesn't really provide anything we haven't already got either in the best 22 or SANFL. He stated he wanted to play football away from the scrutiny he would have received in Adelaide due to his families history here in the SANFL. Scharenberg may be a different story, though his injury history doesn't make happy reading.

I would hope that you'd consider that this has more to do with leading patterns of a guy that's been back in a forward role for a month than agility. Reid has no issues with closing speed in defense. Judging on one game is just wrong and you had two opportunities to soften your POV given the quality of his opponent so I won't bother taking the discussion further.
where did I say I was judging it on one game? I've been saying all year he looks slow. in defence he's all or nothing and falls over like old players do when they're off the pace.

maybe he has a massive preseason and recovers some pace but he has never been quick.

have you got any recent examples of his closing pace in defence?

Fogarty is starting to slide on a lot of draft boards too Dave, but in the end draft boards mean nothing, it's just random punters taking a guess like the rest of us for the most part.

Not sure why you're linking Hine with Oakleigh. I doubt there's some sort of sinister directive behind him taking Chargers players early, if that were the case he wouldn't have grabbed Sier with our first pick in 2015. Think you're making something out of nothing on that front.

I reckon Stephenson will be gone by our pick, but reports are we aren't interested in him anyway. Looks very much to be a WHE type, and we already have WHE himself.

Well I was going Off Actual People in the Media. Not just people on the Draft Board when they do Mock Drafts. As they as you say are just Punters putting the 2 Cents in.

Well the Club has a Relationship with Oakleigh and we drafted a Few From there in:

  • Darcy Moore
  • Jordan De Goey
  • Tom Phillips
  • Sam McLarty
  • Josh Daicos
  • Ben Crocker

So what Player we been Reported to be looking at in the Draft?

WHE adds Class and Pace to the Team and we need a few like that

Moore - FS, club is irrelevant
Daicos - FS, club is irrelevant
JDG - hard to argue at this point he wasn't the best player available, despite list needs.
McLarty - rated top 10 the previous year, slid because of injury
Phillips/Crocker - late picks. Who else was available that were better?

So if we take out our FS boys you've got four players taken, arguably all best available at their picks. Where's the conspiracy?

People on the media have no idea at this time of year, they only get an inkling of who's interested in which player in the month leading up to the draft. Nobody has any clue who we're interested in, the assumption though from everyone is that we'll target a KPP. There have been a couple of reports though that we aren't interested in Stephenson because he has severe OCD.

Surely the McGovern talk is to make wce pay overs.
Don't think he fits the Weagles needs. They need midfield run and carry especially with Priddas retiring and Mitchell unlikely to go on. Doesn't mean they won't get him just because he's available, just that I think they have bigger priorities.
