I agree that I would much prefer Darling over the other two, however only raised them as I feel the only way to get Darling atm would be if fas went the other way and was simply looking at as which would be a better result for our club in terms of goals,
Darling and ...? Daicos plays a slightly different role
or
Dickson and Fasolo

In terms of throwing the kitchen sink at Lynch I don't think we'd be able to do that until next year, as I don't see a way for us to get both Lever and Lynch this year.
And thats fair.
But id still rather an untested 20/21 yo playing in someones 2nds team than i would bringing in Dickson. Thats my opinion anyway. Unless theres something about his leadership or coaching potential that I havent heard of I don't really see the purpose of bringing him for a year or two.

Does this mean you prefer Darling over the dog's pair? Understandable if so as he's younger and probably shown just as much as the other two.

I raise it only because I give us next to no chance of getting both Lever and Lynch this year. If Lever arrives I wouldn't mind Darling/Dickson/Crameri coming in as well to help out Moore and Reid up forward, or covering either along the way.
I'd prefer to go to the draft and try to get a potential a-grader than waste time on NQR players.

Not fussed on Lever at the prices being bandied around, happy to wait till next year to try and get Lynch under FA if he's at all interested in a move.

soft spot for Carlton out of pity
Andrews, Hipwood and Freeman I believe are all products of the QLD academy. Andrews and Hipwood are jets, would be rated by the Lions as we rate Moore.

They also have Schache, as the number #1 pick who they will want to get games into.

So give McStay or Close a bit of a nudge, two Victorians who might be able to shake out for a later pick.
Amazing how it changes. Lions KPP stocks is a rags to riches success. Andrews and Hipwood oh boy. Schache is shaky but if he turns out solid in the Koschitzke mould then he's more than a good second foil to the next Buddy Franklin. Andrews is easily the best young KPD coming through. Guys like McStay, Close and Freeman might be a good gamble for us, might come Jarrod Witts' cheap.

I tell you, I really like Andrews from Brisbane as a stopper and think he'd fit the defensive balance we need for our backline far better than Lever. We already have Howe, Scharenberg, Reid (if he plays there) and Langdon as intercept types. We need a guy to play on the dominant forwards and Andrews will do that more effectively.

I wonder what he'd cost to shake free? It may be a complete pipe dream but I feel the thinking would be more in line with what type of player we actually need.
It would be a pipe dream, but it's good to dream all the same. I like our clubs tough stance on our first being un-tradeable. I think in the end if Lever choses us we trade it but we get something back similar to the Carlisle trade, maybe a second rounder? I reckon we will add Broomhead to the deal.

You can only laugh at this clown and his whispers
I honestly don't know how he's still a thing. I mean, if you're going to make up a rumour about a player deal, why would the club involved be the least likely to require said player's services? Nobody's going to convince me that SOS would make an offer like that to Lynch when Carlton have Curnow, who's going to be a star, in addition to McKay, Kerr and his own son in Ben as of next year (who is apparently a jet) already secured and fitting the age profile for a list in rebuild mode.

I'd get Jack Watts and leave him across half forward for us.. he's in the 2s and he's frustrated Melbourne for yrs.. worth a punt for what pick or player.. who knows. If he turns it on.. he can make a big difference to our side.

Close isn't good at football so i'd pass on that. McStay probably isn't at the quality we'd need and want either. Aim higher I say.

Not every player you bring in is going to be a potential top 5 player.

You do need to have some depth guys on your list. Adding a young KP who has battled injury misfortune or a KP player who isn't getting much senior football opportunity on the cheap would help our list dynamic.

I could see an argument for McStay at the right price and on the cheap.
