Since we're talking about hopeless players have a look at that bloke in your avatars game last week

Now Hes cooked

I'm willing to give stringer a punt considering his age range

Wouldn't pay more than 600-650k though for him
250 quality games... ok hes hopeless. Stringer has played 80 or so games... 10 good 30 ok 40 absolutely pathetic. He would be a worse pick up than Mayne

Writing off a guy who had a shit year where he had a crap load of injuries AND split up with wife AND apparently had beef with players at the club

With a point to prove at his new club, this guy will turn it on in 2018 with a full preseason

100%

I don't like the baggage but do like the idea of someone who kicks goals.
It's a hell of a lot of baggage for a bloke so young - chances of something going on behind the scenes with him are fairly high I suspect and he's clearly not enjoying football at the moment (if he ever has).

Worse pick up than Mayne yeah a guy who was AA at 20, has kicked 40 goals a year twice, Premiership player, etc

Cmon look past the 2017 year, mate there isn't many chances where u get guys with talent like this on offer without having to sell the farm

Reward far outweighs the risk here

But he doesn't have the frame/bulk of those 2.

But before you throw the "But he's only 21" chestnut at me, both Brown and Reid were playing key position in a premiership side at 20. So age is no barrier to playing key position. Your size is.

He may have the minimum requirement for the height down, but he sure as shit doesn't have the weight/frame/bulk etc to do it.

Rance is 94kg
Talia is 99kg
Dunn is 95kg

But...go on
Reid and Brown were 22 in 2010.

There's no way Lever is only 85kgs as well.

If we trade pick 6 for this guy I will join your boycott.
Look, he had a poor season but he's a 22 year old AA, he obviously had issues with the coaching group so we'd certainly need to our due diligence before making a play, at his best he's possibly a top 3 mid sized forward in the comp, players like that don't go for peanuts mate.

When it suits him, which isn't often. Let him go to the Bombers.
I reckon you're being unfair. You don't kick as many goals as Stringer if you don't play well often. This year was bad but he was pretty consistent for the two years prior. I don't reckon he's a good fit for us for a number of reasons he's a bloody good player.

Not what we need for the price which will be demanded.
We have bigger holes in the list which he doesn't fill.
Next hypothetical trade please.
If Fas heads home we are gonna need a mobile 3rd tall type
Aside from stringer there's Devon smith and Menzel on offer

Wouldn't go near those two IMO

If the club is willing to give Chris Mayne a contract and won't even contemplate making a play for him this proves the club has absolutely no idea

This guy is a star and a once in a generation type player

Not many have talent like this bloke
You've been sucked in by BT. His 2016 wasn't as good as 2015, and he was terrible this year. From all reports has an attitude problem, although off field issues with his family no doubt compound it.

He got dropped a couple of times in 2016 and was lucky to get back in for the GF. This guy is more trouble than he is worth, hope we steer well clear.

Maxwell was appointed Captain in 2008 (at 25yo) - and for the ensuing 2 years, he was bagged continually as undeserving of best 22, let alone Captain.
He grew into the role and ended up being one of our best captains, and by 2010 at 27 had made the critics eat their words.

TA is not yet 24, he is the typical leader often seen in the AFL, where his a ability to lead outweighs his skills - just like Maxwell. And a current example would be Nathan Jones of Melb.

I am not sure where the idea of his leadership being "overated' comes from and would be keen to hear you expand on this.

The fact that you actually put him in the same conversation as Lewis speaks volumes for his leadership - no-one here would disagree that he lacks JL skills.

Elliott fills that role. Sidebottom plays more as a forward and a plethora of midfield options to cover Steele. Not discounting daicos/ Kirby in a forward role too.
Stringer will cost too much.
With the cash/ picks we have we need KP players.
A can't stress how simple that is.
