I am happy to draft KPP this year but I want/demand Lynch next year.
Yeah I am keen on Lynch. Would do 2 X first rounders (1 future) for him if we get a third rounder back. That wouldn't be the best scenario for GC (losing Lynch), but double first round picks for 2 years would be handy. Especially if 2m Peter stays.
However, I am not sure it can happen. AFL are determined to make the expansion clubs work. With Brisbane having had big struggles of recent, too, and only just now turning the corner I think the AFL will be all about rebuilding GC over next few years. A big part of that will be ensuring they keep the best talents, and get the best coaches.
Maybe we do need to just utilise cox/reid/moore/dunn/Grundy as our talls? Some teams would kill to have those options.
Looking at current successful models (Adelaide and Richmond) is tricky, though, because Adelaide have a great balance in their fwd line and their talls are star quality (albeit Jenkins is a bit of a contentious one). But Richmond only really have Jack Reiwoldt as a genuine gun forward... Hawthorn was similar in latter days only having Roughead. But in both those cases their smalls and mediums contributed stacks. Same as Bulldogs 2016.
Elliot, Fasolo, WHE + Moore and Cox/Grundy/Reid actually gives us a pretty decent forward line. The issue is more getting them all on the park at the same time. WHE is great when he goes forward - and a really accurate set shot. Elliot is a star and Fas is capable of 40 in a season but is laconic.
Add in Daicos, Kirby, Crocker (who have all shown signs as small forwards) + a resting Levi or De Goey, and that CAN be a good forward line. It all comes down to coaching after that.
