Eh, a 10 game stretch in 2016 out of a possible 66 games in 3 years isn't exactly a trend. Not ideal either, but he didn't miss a game this year.

He's a considerable upgrade on Sinclair by position. Chase him, but by no means give away the store. 36 and maybe a player like Smith should be our opening offer.

Bringing in an asset like Saad is not incompatible with filling the other holes...
Don't get me wrong M B he would be an asset but I WANT KPP this year.......it's as simple as that.

You and me both. It's why I'm in the keep 6 unless we get a good deal camp. It's the only real asset we have to get a good one with. It gets decidedly harder if we take 36 to the draft (especially if looking for a forward), so why not use 36 to fill another hole off half back?

That being said, Gold Coast need players coming into their club, not going out, so I wonder if we have something in the cupboard that they might be interested in...?

Obviously your definition of a gun is different to mine mate.

Ablett is a gun......Saad?
eh.. outside of Laird, Hibberd and Jetta I'm struggling to think of better small defenders, imo if you are top 5 at your position (he's possibly even top 3) you are a gun

FFS seedsman is getting game only through injury. He'd still in the sanfl otherwise. He hasn't improved an inch.
He couldn't get a game for an injury riddled side outside the finals, just a couple of injuries for the grand finalists and he was in and didn't let them down.
You've missed the main thing that's meant to be taken out of that article -

Buckley as a coach has sucked the life out of Collingwood, on and off the field.

None of those players are guns mate.....good average players but not guns.
In "nahnah's" defence CFC he's talking about elite in there positions, which I too consider Saad in his position.....can't compare to Ablett as he isn't a small defender.

As I've agreed before, our focus should be on KPP's but at the same time one of the other areas we need to address is speed and someone who can break the lines and a player like Saad addresses this in defence......providing he doesn't cost too much in picks/players.

I'll ask the question, what does everyone think he is worth?

Loved it when I saw an article on FB saying we're into Saad.

Don't understand whichever poster said for Greenwood, Oxley and pick 36 for him.

He's a small defender who finished 10th in the b&f of the team that finished 16th. He was also drafted through the rookie draft.

Pick 36 should do it alone surely.

I rate him, but a home sick bloke from a lowly club that had a semi-ok year doesn't require that much currency changing hands, surely.
I reckon we should look at a player swap. Pick 36 isn't worth much to GC this year. But it is to us.

36 should do it, but to get Greenwood and Oxley off the list would be an added bonus.

Greenwood I am happy to keep cause he can play a role, but think Oxley is unlikely to ever by best 22.

Josh Schaches stats are very similar to a Darcy Moore's and we have been very happy to be patient with him while he gets experience and bulks up. Schache is still under 100kgs and only 2 seasons into a career. I think with a move closer to family that the upside is huge for him. I personally love the idea of having 2 young key forwards playing for us that still have 10 years in front of them. I'd give up pick 6 for that.

I'm literally just asking questions about a player who I have very little knowledge about. To me it seems we already have a number of players in this position... Is he worth getting given that fact?
Yeah I think he is. He is the line breaking attacking small defender we have been missing since Heath left. Provides that quick turn over like a Sinclair can in 1 or 2 games a year before getting injured.

My theory is if we have a quite off-season this year we are diffently lining up a big offer for Lynch next year. If we can land Saad and Watts and take 6 to the draft will be good trade period. Play a small forward line ie Richmond this year with Moore, Elliott, Fas and Watts with Kirby becoming a regular and on occasions swing Reid forward. Then throwing everything at Lynch next season.

Laird is a jet mate! He's clearly the best small defender in the game and probably the best at his craft since Chris Johnson. IMO, he's the Crows most important player today and if he has a good one they win.

I'd also have Saad behind N Smith, Kennedy, Baguley and Vlastuin as well as Jetta, Laird and Hibbered in that small to mid size defender role, but that movement is hard to resist as someone that hates watching the Collingwood crabs run around.

In our defensive mix with the likes of Scharenberg, Howe and Langdon so adept at winning the ball yet conservative with how they use it he'd be a tremendous asset. Think Smith with a desire to move the ball with purpose and a defensive game.

Saad is just what we need in our back half. We have no decent small defenders, particularly with his audacity to take the game on (Sinclair could have been it :(). He would compliment what we have very well. If we could also pick up a decent KPD prospect too, we're looking good back there.

I really like the idea of Saad since he has gotten through this season injury free. His run and carry opens up the game and creates chaos which upsets defensive structures. That is a tremendous boon for our ball movement which needs improvement. We also have a real list need there given Ramsays form and Sinclair and Varcoes injury concerns.

The other I like for similar reasons is Harrison Wigg. He is 60-65m accurate kick that could open up the play with his footskills. And he'd come cheap I reckon, think 3rd or 4th rounder. Probably similar to what we get for Ramsay if he moves west.

If we got Saad and Wigg we'd have two difference makers. One with his pace the other with incisive kicking. It would add so much variety to our backline and would be very positive to our ball movement.

Agree. If we are confident he will come on, I'd actually prefer to trade for Schache than Tom Lynch (understand Lynch will be an FA, but restricted). Get to sign him a year earlier, won't cost as much and still has the potential to be close to Lynch's level.
