Champion data has watts ranked as one of the best players in the comp at delivering the ball inside 50. Clearly an area of concern for us.

As i said earlier, if the trade is really cheap for us, id be happy with it. I wouldn't want to downgrade our pick 6 though. I think pick 36 and later pick. Dees should be happy with that because it frees up cap space and they likely wont have a pick in the top 50 of they offer their 1st and 2nd for Lever

He'd need to be cheap in trade and salary. How would you structure the forward line with him?

give 'em the treatment, might help... or not...

Its tough.

Id probably go:

Fasolo, Moore, Goldsack
Varcoe, Watts, Elliott

Goldsack, Elliott and Varcoe add that defensive pressure. But we would have the option of swinging Reid forward if we want another tall, and Goldsack back.

De Goey would also play a lot forward.

The question is whether Cox fits in

FWIW, here is how l see the current state of affairs after today:

Current Small/Med Fwds

Fasolo - l'd trade him seeing he's still got some currency, (pick 15-20) especially to one of the WA clubs. Does not give us enough forward pressure. Is he in danger of being a one trick pony?

Blair - must be delisted, held back the development this year of the likes of Daicos, Brown and Kirby

Mayne - l'd love to proven wrong but can't see him surviving and making our best 22 in 2018

Mentioned Players so Far.....

Saad - in a heart beat, great run and carry. Other clubs probably in front of us currently.

D.Smith - if his body can hold up l think he is motivated to show GWS they were wrong in overlooking him. Other clubs again probably in front of us.

Watts - coming around to the idea of recruiting him for the right price, l'm sure he'd like to stick it up the Dees. Appears Dees pushing him out which lowers value. We're a big chance here.

Lever - only chance any other club has is if Melbourne totally botch this up, think Stephen Bradbury scenario

Out of Left Field........

Alir Alir - mobile, great mark and still raw. Would fit out age group. Swans unlikely though to let him go, he'd have to want to force a move, value....15-25

Thoughts?

People can feel how they want about Stringer but he'll only improve a team in Essendon or Geelong that already finished this season above us.

Lever will do the same for Melbourne.

While you trade for your needs first a positive offset of that also is that you stop your opposition getting a leg up in the process.

Stringer for me is the perfect example of that as his best his AA level and he'll be available for significantly less on the trade table because of his off field issues.

He's still only 23 also.

I fear we'll regret not pursuing him in future seasons.

Considering the Demons have effectively publicly announced that Watts is surplus to requirements, surely he could be picked up for a song? You'd think they'd do the right thing by him and move him on to his preferred destination without too much quibbling considering they signed him up a year ago and are now shafting him?

If we could nick him for a later pick I'd actually be pretty pleased. Change of scenery might work wonders, and if it doesn't it was just the expenditure of a late pick which we've spunked up lately anyways.

Hopefully IF he Chooses us they do the Right Thing. They did it with Dunn last year with us and Howe before that

This is why giving Nathan a 2yr deal was a bad move.
We needed a clean break.

Targeting players like Watts and Crameri is nothing but a shortsighted view.

List management is a ****ing mess.
HFF unless you can show us something from the club
There should be a red card on posting Facebook rumours in this thread unless they link to a genuine article.

It gets everyones knickers in a twist for no reason; and there are some real itchy rats in here during trade season that lose the plot pretty quickly*

*Although it can be quite amusing
Agree, can we also red card anyone that has a anti Bucks rant running thru these posts. If yes can I nominate HFF as the first recipient

No. I posted about Saad possibly going to Carlton
Collingwood could look to solve its forward dilemma by recruiting out of contract Western Bulldog Stewart Crameri.

Crameri only managed two senior games in 2017 due to ongoing hip issues, but Sam McClure believes that the Magpies are showing interest in pairing him with Darcy Moore.

Stewart Crameri has toured the Collingwood facilities.

Watts will be a good pickup if we manage to de-program the "Melbourne" out of him.

I reckon if we were to get Watts he'd need to play higher up the field with Moore the deep option. Which I don't think plays to Moores strengths but I just don't think Watts can be a full forward. They need an appetite for the contest Watts lacks and it takes him out of where he seems comfortable where he can be a hit up target and wheel back towards goals.

To me it would need to be:

HF: ~ Wells ~ Watts ~ WHE
FF: ~ Fasolo ~ Moore ~ Elliot

I think i'd prefer to try releasing Moore up field and leave Reid at full forward. Bank the cap space for Lynch next year.

I'm very much on the fence about Watts because he has some good qualities. But i'm leaning towards no.
