Melbourne got a serious player and with the emergence of McDonald they have the perfect forward line probably just need a quick roving forward to complement them all

Imagine having the option of trading Hogan they have finally got the draft right, took long enough.
They won’t trade Hogan. They’ve always got the option of moving McDonald back to defence if they want to fit all 3 in their team.

McDonald I think is the better team forward he is like Miocheck but with all the upgrades, they all play taller when he gets going.

Weideman had a good game. But it is still only one game. People were frothing over Stewart recently after a short period of good footy.
When was last time Moore (or Stewart) as a forward had 24 touches and 3 goals? Yet he's worth 500k + a year apparently.

Im not having a dig at Moore. But last night was a Charlie Curnow like performance from Weideman. I'll be surprised if that's the one and only time he does it.

Henderson gets injured a lot
Exactly. I'd rather stick with what we have got rather than pick up another injury prone late aged tall with only two or three years left in his career. We already have too many of them and topping up with another just creates list issues down the track.

Cant see the rush to get short term cover for Dunn and Shaz. Goldsack and Reid surely have a year left in them and we also have Moore, as well as McLarty and Lynch entering their third season and Mihocek a perfectly good potential swingman. Unless this new player will actually improve the team (eg May) theres no point in going down this path. Just stick with what we have and go to the draft if we need more depth.

Exactly, I'm happy to move Moore on. He doesn't deserve anything over 400k per year.

And Moore will make us regret it if we do move him on, his only 21-22 FFS ten years ahead of him as a KPD/F. The guy is super talented, just needs to get his body right. With Lynch out of the frame we need to shore up the KP players on our list even more and add the likes of May ( for the right price) and any other opportunity talls we may have on our radar.

Agree. But I reckon Adam Cerra and a high draft pick from Freo would see Hogan traded. Cerra extended by 2 years at Freo recently but possibly open to a move back to Vic if offered it. All theoretical... but I reckon Hogan is expendable for the right trade. Losing him would also bring Demons solid salary cap relief

Several weeks ago I suggested our late 1st rd pick for Weiderman and was torn down. The kid has potential.

And this nonsense about him doing nothing in his career so far ignores that some big players take the extra year or two to come good. Harry McKay at Carlton is another example of a player taken in the same draft who has taken time but is starting to look good.
Just keep Moore then.

Looked great last night. He's improved his body massively. I didn’t think he'd make it, because I had him pegged as slow and immobile. On last night's evidence, I was way off.

I cannot believe how many on here aren’t prepared to pay Moore $500-$600K? We need to invest in him not hand him over to another club willing to pay for the talent they’ve seen & know he WILL deliver.
Because we dont want to hand over all that cash if he is just sitting on the sidelines. Happy to pay that if he is playing, but the base should be well short of that with insentive payments liked to # of games.

So your happy to move on a key position player, who can play back or forward, probably even ruck if required. Players as athletic and multipositional as Moore don't come along very often. The guy has a decade of footy ahead of him, and if he stays fit people will be talking about him as a superstar of this competition. Crazy suggestions on here to trade him out. He isn't worth $700k a season, at the moment, but he will be in a couple of years. Hopefully the club can offer him a good contract for the now, and revisit a new contract in a couple of years. A must keep, if this footy club is to build on what we have achieved so far this year.

And replace him for somebody whose name we cant evern spell and expect that he will walk to us for peanuts.

And if he is being offered more from say, Carlton, why would he go to the Suns with a far worse list?
Its just dumb
Probably because he's just as likely to be playing VFL most of the season if Carlton get McGovern over the line?

They've also got Curnow, Casboult, McKay and De Koning to choose from up forward now (I know not all of them will fit in the same 22) so what they would be lacking is a couple of quick pressure small forwards and I dont rhink Fasolo fills that need.

I suspect any Fasolo move might be put on hold until the McGovern situation plays out and it's not outside the realms of possibility that his manager might suggest exploring other options just in case in that situation.

I don't mean to down play how well Weideman played. He was excellent. But it's easy to make big statements after a game like that but consistency is where it's at. He may become consistent and he may not. He has now demonstrated his best is dominant.

It'll be interesting how it plays out with him and Hogan. I don't think they can fit Hogan, McDonald and Weideman in the same forward line. Does McDonald go back? Does Hogan go to WA? Does Weideman get traded? I think we'd be interested in Weideman if he were available now Lynch is off the table and given Weidemans break out game. But it would be a gamble off such a small sample of good games.

His 21-22 and a real potential star. Simple he is a must keep, to keep him we are going to have to pay base $550-$600k over 2-3 years, build in the incentives to earn very attractive bonuses if he meets certain targets. If we don’t get the on field return 3 years from now then I would be open to trading.

Pretty good couple weeks broke into a pretty good team hasn't just been given games because his an early pick.
Weideman broke into the team because of Hogans injury. He took his chance and was excellent last night. His VFL form had been average except against the non affiliated sides. There was good reason for the scepticism about Weideman earlier in the thread. But it was definitely an excellent game last night against a tough opponent on a big stage. So his best is up to it

It can't be that difficult can it?
