I'm not overly fussed about the timing of offers but it appears from Lucas's comments that Ned hasn't been having the "we love your player and we want to sign him but we just don't know how much freedom we've got in the TPP at this stage" conversation with his manager which surprises me. It's not that hard to maintain open dialogue. Unless of course they weren't committed to retaining him.
It sounds like Langdon has had a contract in front of him all year.
That may well have been all the conversation Ned Guy felt he needed to have with Langdon/Lucas: "you are a wanted player - here's the contract".
Guy may well have left it at that until the season was done. The ball was in Langdons court to either accept, come back with a counter offer, or demand a trade. (Or wait patiently to see if his performances upped the offer).
I agree that it would be nice for Guy to keep more regular contact, but it might also not be the best business move - especially if they think their current offer is fair and Langdons demands (or rumoured demands) are outlandish.
I wouldn't read to much into Lucas' comments though. An Agent is going to do everything he can to eek the most $ out of the club, and make the club look like the bad guy.
