If we lost Moore and Langdon along with Fasolo and picked up May, Finlayson and Langdon I'd be okay with that. Still don't want to lose Moore and Langdon but if they are looking for coin and a move the replacements I'd be happy with.

Of-course there isn't a hope this will happen looking at our previous years during trade week.
Isn’t Moore staying.
Langdon will as well.

Works itself out - always does

Key Position
May should be #1 on our list.
If we can't get May, hit GWS for Finlayson or Tomlinson or both. Hombsch from Port.

Outside Speed
Scully from GWS

Copy and Paste and add to the list!
#1 North are bringing in everyone so can we just take Ben Brown off them?

If we're targeting a GWS mid this year then I'd prefer Scully over Shiel. Assuming of course that Scully's injury issues aren't an ongoing concern. Just offers more of what we need with his pace, endurance, and 2 way running. Reckon he'd be cheaper to.
How old is Scully? What would he cost?

Sounds more and more likely May is going to Melbourne and if not, staying at the GC.

I thought the object of any Langdon trade was to unite the brother not send them to opposite ends of the country.
Yeah the two brothers had a call discussing that they should play together, and each one thought they were going to join the brother at the other club. *cue Benny Hill music*. :p

I heard he’s trying to get into boxing.

Shane Mumford is considering a shock comeback with GWS Giants

  • “No formal discussions have been held with GWS, but if Shane feels that he can play again he’ll consider it as an option,” Mumford’s agent, Anthony McConville, of Mac’s Sports Promotions said.

A debilitating navicular foot fracture suffered in the 2017 qualifying final loss to Adelaide was the last of Mumford’s 172-game career at Geelong, Sydney and the Giants.

The 199cm enforcer also battled knee and ankle injuries throughout a decade-long career that peaked with a premiership for the Swans in 2012.

Mumford, 32, has served as the Giants’ part-time ruck coach since announcing his retirement last October and lives in the Harbour City with his wife and two kids.

He has stayed in peak condition as a registered professional boxer and will fight in Sydney on November 17 promoted as Shane “Sausage” Mumford.

He has until next month to nominate for the national draft, but has told friends and family he has completely recovered from the foot injury that forced him to give up the game.

A source close to Mumford said: “The fire is still there and his foot has come good”.

Nominating for the draft would make Mumford available to all 18 clubs.

It is unlikely the Giants would consider re-drafting Mumford if Lobb stays, but he could still play elsewhere.

A self-confessed “fat kid from Bunyip” with a love of the sausage sizzle, Mumford was taken as a mature-age recruit by the Cats in the 2007 rookie draft.
He famously shed 20 kilograms in 2007-08 to turn himself into an elite footballer renowned for his ferocious attack on the ball and the man.

“I think I’ve injured just about every part of my body throughout my career but the foot was the turning point,” Mumford said upon announcing his retirement.

“I’ve had problems with my knees for many years and had the ankle reconstructed, now to injure the foot as well, I want to be able to run around with my kid in years to come.

“If I continued playing there was potential to do more damage and for me it’s not worth the risk, I want to have a life after football as well.

“For me to play on and not be 100 per cent would be selfish, so I’d much rather finish up while I was still playing some good football.”

The Giants have struggled to find a consistent replacement in the 12 months since Mumford’s retirement.

Journeyman Dawson Simpson battled poor form and injury to play nine games, which forced forward Rory Lobb to shoulder a lot of the ruck load. Spearhead Jon Patton also chipped in.

Even after the finals series, I'm still a bit meh about Langdon. Think he has potential but I still feel Shaz and Maynard are better players to play down back.

Shaz - Dunn - Maynard
Crisp - Moore - Howe

That's my ideal backline. If we could get a 1st rounder for Langdon I would take it every day of the week, particularly if it would help us bring in McGovern or May.
Shaz had the world at his feet when he was drafted. Unfortunately he has been cruelled by injury. He is our current day Lee Walker. Langdon has surpassed Shaz

Are you ok with losing Langdon to make it happen? With Moore’s signature imminent the only way we can afford May is to lose Langdon.

My gut feel is that May hasn’t announced his intentions because he doesn’t know whether we can make it happen. IMO, May to Melbourne has been strung together by the media.
May he stay with GC for a year and then comes to us as a FA. Next year we'll have loads of cap space with Wells,Goldy,Reid all retired off.

Are we now at the stage where we can backload contracts if players are willing?

Wells surely will not have his contract extended beyond 2019. Greenwood should be on less coin for his new contract. Blair, Murray, Smith all likely gone this year. Goldsack reportedly willing to play for nothing (which wouldn’t be allowed, so let’s say minimum chips).

If May or someone else is willing to take a year one haircut, it might be an avenue to appeasing their salary demands over the life of their contract.

There you go. Heard he was trying to get a gig against Paul Gallen. My friend thought it was hilarious because not once did he step into the ring at the Giants gym. He wouldn’t even go Heath Shaw :p

A lot will question his desire. Injuries have hurt him also.

Was a keen bombers fan from memory. Would be interesting to see him go.
