Thanks guys for some pure comedy the last couple of days. Some of the names being brought up for trade are laughable. Our premiership window is still open. We have players returning from injury, key position players may I add. Don't panic..

We will get Cameron from the Swans to help Grundy which is a much needed addition. I'd be happy to let Jamie go for a pick in the early to mid 20's if that were the case, he does owe this club so I'd expect him to stay but you never know. If he does it frees up cap space for deals we need to do with existing players and can also be used for future deals (Eg; Signing Jeremy Cameron in 2021)

Brandon Ellis 5 years at $3,000,000 WTF? o_O

Just send Gold Coast to Tasmania already.

This the quote from your earlier post.

"Hell I rate him high enough i'd also would of done it at pies instead of taking Reid into another season"

Please explain to me how keeping REID and getting PATTON are like for like options, that is , we could have had Patton "instead" of Reid.

Unless you have inside info. that the cost would have been the same - then clearly they are not like for like, and we could not have had Patton "instead" of REID.
You are offering a completely unrealistic scenario.

I said what I would of liked to have done, I didn't say one was dependant on the other.
Patton comes with injury risk, Reid's barely played 55 games over a 6 year period.
I think we hold on to too many perrenially injured types and if i was going to pick between a 26yo and a 31yo to take a punt on for next year and moving fwd, id pick the 26yo.

We have picks in this draft, yes or no?

We have the ability to delist to open a spot?

We have the ability to renegotiate a contract extend and spread (Pattons) or multiple to stagger payments to fit his big GWS year in before reduced 2nd? Yes or no. Exactly like Hawks are going to do.

I just did. It would still be putting Matt Crouch as pick 1 and Brad Crouch as pick 2. Still well overs.

I wouldn't do the deal, but it's not too far off the mark. A few minor pick swaps/sweeteners difference in value to each club. Picks 1 & 2 is a premium price but sometimes that's what teams have to do to attract players. Likely pick 1 or 2 and pick 15 would have would have been just about spot on for the Crouch brothers. In an open trade I'd want 2x top 10 picks for Grundy and pick 1 & 2 might be a bit excessive but I could live with that. I'd be willing to bet your balls the Crows would look to keep 1 of those top 2 picks and throw own 4 or 9 into the mix. .

Only way they get Players to the Suns is to Offer then Stupid Money

Dave I wouldn't pay that bloke $200,000 a year.

No way after all the concessions given to them do they trade out pick 1 & 2 in 2019.

For the Right Deal I could see them doing it.

Ellis is a Free Agent anyway so the Suns don't have to give anything up for him thru Trade

Other players or picks would be involved but the point is if Grundy goes (or if it’s best to do the deal now) and the crouch brothers want to go to GC then the pies should work bloody hard to get these 2 kids in the black and white!

They are just not viable going forward without draft and cap concessions. I'm surprised the AFL haven't reinvented the COLA in some way for the Suns.... but give it time.

They Probably have and keeping it Quiet

Reading in between the lines Dave I think they have been "forced" to take the two Oakleigh boys this year as part of the plan.

Everything you’ve suggested is way more expensive than keeping Reid. Which was exactly my point.

Let Hawks take the risk.

Yeah and I disagree.
For mine a pick in the 30s or 40s for him is cheap. The risk of 1 year tpp hit followed by 1 or 2 low paid years is also negligible if we do some work arounds. We took Wellsy on at 31yo at 600k for 3 years for example.

Moot point anyway as he's not coming and Hawks will get him for sweet FA like they did Scully.

Some traditional mud-flinging here from AFL Trade Radio:

https://www.afl.com.au/news/trade/trade-talk

Injury-plagued Collingwood goalkicker Jamie Elliott may have played his last match in the black and white. The high-flying 27-year-old has struggled to string matches together with ankle and hamstring issues, and the Pies are hopeful he'll stay, but where would he fit in if he did move on?

Ummm did you not watch Collingwood for most of this season dickheads?

Oh it's Dwayne Russell and Coons, never mind.

The skinny kid that played FWD is no comparison to the much bigger, stronger and more experienced 2019 version.
Exactly. Joe Daniher spent a bit of time down back and when he came back as a CHF he kicked around 65 goals in a season. Moore is a bigger talent. We already have a KPF and many here can't see it.

Show me 1 poster who has said that.

Well I was paraphrasing and making a point of emphasis on ClaytonM numerous posts re rating KPD over KPF and happy for a role player up front vs star rebounder down back, Wicksy comment that he doesn't want to waist recources in a non critical role.
The numerous other posts in this thread about role player KPF is all you need etc etc.
