The question there is: Why does he need to be put on a final warning to straighten himself out? He's 27, back with Alex, and has a child. He SHOULD know better. And, whos' to say that if he does pull his head in, that he doesn't do something similar next year should the club offer him another contract.
I would be very surprised if this was the last time that Fev was in the papers for the wrong reason. It seems that he just can't control himself.

I wonder how much truth there was to the rumour though?

Players like Brendan Fevola don't grow on trees is all I'm saying.

That's true BG, but take a look at 2 of the dominant teams over the past few years - Geelong and West Coast. Neither really have an A-grader in their forward line, yet both have won premierships in the past 2 seasons. This is where the game is going. Have a strong half back line and midfield, that they will give their forwards enough options, plus kicking goals themselves, to win more games than losing them.

One final thought - Carlton will never win a premiership with Fevola in the team.

Agreed. :p

Was Brad Fisher out there Thursday? He's a bit injury prone, but Waite, Fisher and Kreuzer controlling the forwardline, recieving from Gibbs, Murphy, etc is a pretty powerful combination. :thumbsu:

Alright then HBF, we both have our different opinions. Shed some light on what you think we would get for Fevola at the end of the year and how long away we are from being a WC or a Geelong in terms of having a strong enough midfield and backline to warrant not having a start forward.

fev is fev. fev is carlton. i would not allow him to leave unless he did something INCREDIBLY bad. he's just one of those people....but we still love him.

trade carrazzo for a KP forward or defender i think.

Fisher should be in this week to play St. Kilda, and hopefully Kreuzer will be back this week too. We oarticularly need Kruezer

There's no way that we owuld be able to get a quality KP forward or defender for Carrazzo. Would have to give up a bit more.

I cant see how Fisher is going to play this week. He probably would have been in plaster for 4 weeks or whatever its been and from all reports he only got the pin out on Thursday. Even if he does play are you expecting him to make much of an impact considering hes coming back from a pretty painful injury?

The market would dictate what we would get for Fevola, but I reckon we could ask for a first round selection, and get it. And, in this years draft, it would be worth plenty. The top 15 in this years draft would be as strong as any in the draft history.

As for our midfield, give it another 12-24 months, as alot of it will depend on how quick our kids will develop. With Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Carrazzo, Grigg and co, who knows where we could go. I feel very excited by the fact that in a couple of years, we could be back playing finals footy, and playing pretty good as well.

i think we should trade him for a first rounder and a qulity young gun that way we could posibly get hurley and mabey suban or hartlett

Alright, fair point you make there. Would you not agree though that it does take longer for KPP to grow into quality players then what it does for midfielders. We were patient with JK for a few seasons and he did not blossom. Same story with Hartlett it seems. You seem to know a bit about the upcoming youngsters in the draft. Have you got any info. on some of the KPPs that we might go at?

trading fev for a draft pick is a very very very bad idea. we'd be without a strong forward for the next 3 years, putting our development waaaaaay back.

i still think we could get a decent KP player for carrazzo - the media pipe him up and his possessions count could be misleading to teams with shit midfields.

I like this idea as i cant see Carazzo fitting into our midfield in a year or so time. But to be blaitently honest I dont believe we could get a decent KPP for him. What side needs a player like Carazzo that would give up a quality CHF for him? Melbourne? Ohh wait they dont have a quality KPP ;)

Some players have the potential to be brilliant but either don't ever show it ever or never show it until they move on.

I think Fev may be the latter, unfortunately for us.

Question is, if Fev is going to keep playing up is it worth keeping what we have or let him go and find alternative routes.

Yes, he could be brilliant and we've seen flashes for the past 8 or so years (sounds long, doesn't it?).
IMO move him on. Too many chances, time to cut our losses.

Fev had a year off the grog when his wife was pregnant, and had the best year of his career. He will be off the turps for the rest of the season and kick 60 or 70 goals.
You just don't trade players like him!!
