as it stands we're getting 3-4 draftees minimum with 2xtop5, kellaway & roberts (unless it's reid instead of the 2 picks)

i guess it would depend if roberts is good enough. but this particular offseason i don't see us grabbing too many players unless we get a lot of trade offers for our players which i don't know who would have any value that would leave. i also reckon we might brave nank going down with ryan & ohb as backup for one more year...

but then next year we'll have 1xtop5, armstrong, leys & daffy potentially

next year would be ****ed for trying to get points if cody walker actually nominated us, i guess you'd have to change the 1xtop5 to him, or we'd need to trade a future first unless both walker & armstrong fall far down draft lists
who is this Roberts guy???

Pick 2, pick 3 + Jacob Blight for Reid, 3rd + F2.

Or

Pick 3, F1 + Jacob Blight for Reid + F2.
Reid's stocks seem to be declining - perhaps two Top 5 picks is excessive.

I'll have a go.

Trade #3 to Sydney for #6 + #24. This is under the proviso that we've identified a top end gun who won't go Top 5, and that Sydney have a top ender earmarked that they think might go before #6.

Then trade #2 + #24 and 2026 F2 (probs ~#20) for Reid.

Overall:
Richmond
In - #6 + Reid
Out - #2 + #3 + F2

West Coast
In - #2 + #24 + F2
Out - Reid

Sydney
In - #3
Out - #6 + #24

Means we keep an early 1st round in 2025 where we get our man this year, keep what will most likely be a Top 3 pick in 2026, and also get Harley Reid.

3 very highly ranked players in for the loss of two 1st and two 2nds.

Or just keep #2, #6 and #24.

who is this Roberts guy???
oscar roberts nga, putting up kinda decent numbers in the coates league but i have not watched anything of him

if we do take him at all it'd probs be him making it all the way thru the draft and cat b'ing him after we've given colina the flick (pretty sure this is his last year as cat b right?)

but that's if he's even in our calculations at end of year anyway

The two picks plus the free agent you miss out on having to stupidly overpay him. Three players all up.

It's a no for me.
Who is that Free agent you’re talking about. No decent FA in his right mind would select Richmond.

Our first rounder next year is not going to be in the 10-20 range. It'll be a top 5 pick guaranteed.

If we have a poor year or injuries to key players like Nank and Lynch then we are in all sorts.

Finishing bottom 2 next year and having no 1st rounder would be a disaster

We won't be bringing in only 3 players this off season.

We currently have out of contract; Bauer, Fawcett, OHB, Banks, Lynch, Young, Sonsie, Gray, Prestia, Smith, Blight, Colina, McIntosh & Dow..

14 players and I could quite easily delist half of them without any trouble.

We will again have to be creative at how we bring in another 5-6 kids as part of the rebuild
Not sure if you read all my replies, but I did state that I do not want Reid at all and that my preference is to keep hitting the draft and building up the foundation of our next premiership side, then when we feel we're in need of genuine top end talent to round out the side hit the trade/free agency market.

I'm also well aware that we're going to being in more than 3 players this off season, my post was more about how instead of trying to integrate 8-10 first year players we'd possibly only be looking at the couple of top picks and say Kellaway.

Even if we miss out on Ried i'd be looking at selling one of our picks for a pick this year and a f1.(This years draft looks meh for what we need)
Sydney may bite.
23 & f1,
West Coast may bite
19 & f1.

I don't think I would be selling pick 3 to Sydney for their rd 2 pick and a F1. Both their round 1 picks, maybe. The picks you are proposing are likely to end up at about pick 32 and pick 14 or later on draft night. The Swans have just made 2 Grand Finals in the last 3 years, and are slowly getting back all their injured key players, whose absence has seen them struggle.

Our best hope of getting value for one of those top picks would be from a club like Essendon if they really like a player in the top 3, The Suns, if they do, the Hawks may be keen with pick 8 & their F1. Saints pick 7 and their F1. I am sure we will be looking to trade at least one of our picks for a player or a mixture of decent picks, and there should be a buyer offering a good price somewhere in the market, picks 2 & 3 are pretty high end picks.

GC are already trying to sell Ports pick and struggling to find a buyer. There is no Finn Callaghan/Jagga Smith this year teams want to trade up for unfortunately.

If we can get Reid bonus otherwise take 2 of Duursma/Sharp/Fred/Greeves/NHH/Grlj and hope for best.

I agree. We need to pick the right "Buyer" with an eye on next years ladder.
Think the Swans are on the way down.Last years GF defeat/ new coach(a former Ruckman mind you) average fwd and defence.
But yeah for the right buyer i'd do it.

I don't think a team with all of Heeney, Warner, Gulden, Mills, Blakey, Rowbottom, Papley fit and firing and players like Cunningham, McDonald, Amartey also on the paddock will be any pushover for most teams. Plenty of young guys have been getting valuable exposure this year with all the absences as well. I wouldn't be betting a lot on them missing the finals in 2026.

The above got them to 2 GF's and thrashed both times.Mentally they are shot.

Too early too sell Ports pick.Could end up pick 10.

Not really the point, of course the pick will change. More that the picks is on the market and teams aren’t seeing a player they desperately want to trade up for.

We will struggle to trade down imo just like Norf struggled to trade back into last years first round.

I'm not talking about a free agent in 2025. If you're not paying up now you're banking cash that will eventually be a free agent signing in 2-3 years.
Even in 2 to 3 years if there is no clearly visible improvement in our list and performance, as I said no decent FA would want to come near us. Richmond is in purgatory at the moment. Our list will lose more experience as it is yet to be fully cleaned out. Many of our 4/5 year experienced players just don’t seem to be AFL standard and sadly will also need to be cleaned out. Quite a number of these types are unfortunately now regular senior players.

Sonz, MRJ, Sampson, Colina are A1 spuds. We have another group who are fringe.

We don’t have 1 A grader.

Why would a FA of quality choose Richmond. If people think this rebuild is likely to be done in 3 years they are delusional. It will take us 5+ to be competitive. If a quality player is willing to come, then get it done. We can forward their contract as we will need to spend 95% of the cap. We don’t know what will be required for our juniors in the future as we don’t know how many will make it. The list has to be built mainly from the draft but we have to make it attractive to FA and others or the build will just drag on.

Yeah I personally think we will come knocking to heaps of playing coming out of contract. But who would leave there club to a club basically on the bottom on the ladder and probably going to be bottom 4 for 2/3 years if that.

Thats abit sobering.
I bet if Duff is still on the board come our pick Blairs phone will be burning.
