I can't even remember what the Blues knocked back for Gibbs last year, was it #15 and a future 1st? I highly doubt it but I think the Crows go after him again this year and just joined the dots.
I'm not sure, something like that. it's a pretty reasonable proposition that whatever club goes after Lever would probably be involved in a Gibbs trade as well. Although Gibbs signed a five year deal in '14, which takes him to 2019, so Carlton still hold the cards there.

As for the last part, I've got this slightly unsettling, ever rising feeling that we're going to end up with George Horlin-Smith.
46 games at the age of 24, rising star nominee, 188cm mid/forward, 7 games this year so far.

Looking at his stats he predominantly plays in the middle, but his time on ground is around the 85 minute mark. Players with better stats in any given game pretty much all are on ground for ~110minutes (probably includes stoppages, not just game time). I'm assuming it's an issue with his fitness, he should be able to play more time than that for a 24 year old.

I came here to find four unread pages and thought something interesting happened. Guess not.
Best not make it five.

The popular choices on here would be Webb or Balic. Bit of word about Dom Tyson being shopped and dees fans letting go for a second. I'd be all over that. But highly doubt he gets traded
Dom Tyson is about as likely to get traded as Jack Viney

Do not want Tyson
I would love Dom Tyson. Big bodied inside midfielder with solid kicking skills and good extraction skills? Exactly what we need.

But still, we won't get him. He's seen as a great leader at Melbourne and I'm very sure he'll be part of the leadership group next year (with Lewis, Vince and Jones likely to take a step back).

I meant to bring up GHS a while ago. 188cm inside mid that excels in stoppages with excellent leadership qualities and is the type of person you'd love to fill a club with. Wouldn't cost much either, he'd be a very astute get.

My issue is that he doesn't translate his game to AFL well. Decent in the reserves, average in the seniors.

Am sitting here with a Melbourne mate and he's asked you what ******* games have you watched? He is a hinderance, a nuisance and a waste of space.

As for me Me is dead set useless for the demons and turns up once every ten games. No. Do not want. Can't kick fo Shiz. Slow and gets caught with the ball far too big often.

He is definitely NOT what we need

Lot more competition in the Cats engine room than ours. It'd be hard to consistently make an impact there when the likes on Danger, Selwoodx2, Duncan and Menegola all higher on the pecking order. Still has done well to average 5 clearances this season, which is better than anyone we have.

I see a lot of Melbourne. He is an excellent extractor, great inside presence who has the tank to also link up on the outside. What this guy is saying is akin to what West Coast fans were complaining about Priddis for, though Tyson isn't at Priddis' level.

Seriously, he's a walk up start to every midfield in the competition

I think that might have a bit to do with it, in addition to the low time on ground figures. Every game he's played has had Dangerfield+Selwood fit and firing, except for the one in Round 14 when Joel Selwood barely played (was that the concussion that he walked jogged off the field?). He didn't play through the middle of the year when Dangerfield had the cracked ribs or whatever.

He's the definition of a whipping boy by most Melbounre fans. Actually watch him. He is decent

I understand what you're saying but it still makes me nervous. 2 years ago I wanted him, not so sure now

His game in round 14 was the best I've seen him play this year.

Worst case scenario is that he's a stop-gap inside presence until we are able to find someone better. Low risk, medium reward prospect for mine.

Yep, fair call. I suspect we can get him at bargain prices. I still prefer Lukas Webb but GHS could be another option

Webb would be a good get too, but I'm not sure he's the answer to our midfield woes. Seems better used as a genuine utility where he can use his overhead marking and kicking skills more regularly, I'd get him with an eye on replacing Goddard at some part of next season. Although with their likely retirements in Boyd and Murphy I wouldn't be surprised if Webb chooses to stay.

I say because Melbournes midfield is stacked with his type compared to Essendons so he will do well with us imo.

Melbourne need outside mids with pace and i can see them trading Tyson to get that player.
