Yeah and that the cats can only offer 450k a year with the new salary cap increase seems a bit off the mark.
Not really you've gotta consider who else they've got on the list. Dangerfield, Selwood, Hawkins, Touhy, Henderson on good money. Apparently Scott wants Motlop to stay so if he does that's probably 400-500k there, Ablett in is another 500k if they buy out his contract from GCS, etc. The Cats along with GWS are the two clubs with the least amount of wiggle room in their salary caps.

Is his ex being friends with our players other halves a positive or a negative? I can't make up my mind but I figure if we are still chasing him we have some solid info on his off field issues that we believe are easily addressed

Can confirm met with Essendon and some players today
Doing the same with Geelong and some players tomorrow.
Decision expected Thursday afternoon.
All list managers in Geelong on Friday and at mcg on Saturday morning.
A lot of informal negotiating will take place this week.
MAkes you wonder how much the AFL clubs love trolling the public.

They put in so much time pre trade week only for deals to be tabled and finalised in the last hours of the month frenzy

Not sure but apparently Heppell wasn't happy with his gf's instagram post that included Stringer's ex (Kate was asked about it on the red carpet thing for the Brownlow). Presumably it didn't matter too much at the time, but now it's getting a run in the media because of the speculation about Stringer being traded...

If he chooses us and the club has done its due diligence just offer up pick 11 and be done with it. Its a fair deal besides there is every chance the Dogs will ask for more than that to start with. Wasting time on later picks on this one is unnecessary

If Dodoro could pull off Stringer without giving up a first rounder, I'd personally buy him a whole new wardrobe full of jackets.

Maybe we could introduce him to some top of the line thermals. He doesn't always need to carry all of that bulk with him. Save it for negotiations and meetings.

Remember Barret,McClure etc?
Your mate McClure is now saying 50/50.

The wheels are turning in our favour.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/09/26/stringer-chase-down-to-two/

"He has met with two other Victorian clubs – Hawthorn and Richmond, but the race is down to two and it’s a 50/50 race,” McClure said on SEN Breakfast.

“There is no official offer on the table from Geelong or Essendon, but my understanding is by the end of this week, as the Grand Final ball is bounced on Saturday afternoon Jake Stringer will have nominated a club of choice, and it will either be Geelong or Essendon.

“I’m not sure it will be public knowledge but Jake Stringer will tell his management which club he wants to go to.”

Essendon has Pick 11 in the 2017 National Draft, however it would like to keep that selection. Geelong has pick 20, though the Bulldogs feel he is worth considerably more."

this years second and next years second.
next years second will basically cover rylee west
we have no reason to give up pick 11 on a player they have ostracised
they showed us no favours with crameri
stringer is a luxury not a necessity.

Agree with the sentiments.

If we get nominated we get a significant upper hand negotiating with a club that has already played it's hand.

I differ in saying that I think that 11 has to be on the table. There is no way we get this done without using that pick as I suspect that it becomes a psychological barrier. It would also be hard to say that we are negotiating in good faith if we refused to use the pick which clearly reflects Stringer's value.

I don't think that their second round pick is out of the question at all. That could be seriously valuable either because there will always be a kid worth drafting with that pick or because it could become a significant part of doing another deal (possibly for Kennedy or someone who has not yet been mentioned).

This is where Dodoro is duty bound to test the resolve of the Dogs who have pushed Stringer out the door.

It won't happen but fans will need to keep their powder dry as negotiations commence and drag on. If we are nominated we have Stringer as long as he want him. That doesnt mean that we shouldn't look to maximise value for a player who as you've described is really a luxury for us until proven otherwise.

No wheels are turning. The media is reporting outdated information that will be superseded by the decision that Stringer makes.
