Jason Johannisen.

Do not want - is bordering on the most over rated player in the game.
Brilliant speed and dash, can kick goals from half back and averages 23 touches a game, could do a lot worse than a player like JJ. I shall continue to be in the minority of people to rate JJ haha

I rate him also.

Outside players like him are always the first to suffer when the teams not travelling well as a collective.

He's a jet and would compliment our team very well.

Also don't want JJ. Shouldn't have been the norm smith medalist last year to begin with IMO. His value is overrated based on that alone.

Only needed for Sydney and Melbourne to rough him up a bit to take him out of the game.

Same thing was said about josh green

Who would not be getting a game if Laverde was fit and won't play next year unless there are injuries. That there has been no decent midfield depth has also helped his cause and you cant argue that selecting him ahead of Hocking and Howlett and Bird has not been a good move. If you're going to get belted in the middle might as well have guys who will make scoring easy.

No point clogging up the list with players of the caliber we have been trying to get rid of.

A lot of posters continue to make snide remarks about players like Brown and Kavanagh when the reality is that they failed because we wouldn't give them opportunities.

Laverde, Francis, Langford, Ridley, Begley, Redman, Long, Mutch, Clarke and, by virtue of supposed elite pace, Morgan represents a shit load to work with in the middle, forward and in defence.

I see no reason why we should add stop gaps to a list while waiting for these guys to mature. Adding genuinely good players is another matter entirely.

He is a franchise player in that regard.

How many more games before McKenna is at his level?

McGrath is probably already there.

A different sort of half back I do like, who might struggle to play as he's competing with the best combination of small defenders and half backs in the league (i.e. Hibberd, Hunt and Jetta) is Wagner at Melbourne.

Good intercept player, very clean under pressure and a great kick and decision maker. He's might be a bit too similar to Gleeson, Francis and Ridley to bother with.

It was stated in the Herald Sun that Doggies were only offering him ~$550k a year.

I think $700 would be appealing to him and I don't think that would be overs for us considering the recent CBA increase.

At 24 he is the perfect age and for mine he would be a great addition. Depth through midfield is no doubt a priority but I don't necessarily believe guys like Martin and Kelly are the answer. You can still get quality midfielders through other avenues that will do a job.

Morgan would most likely get de-listed.

Yeah I would be ok with 700k anymore than that I would forget about it.

McKenna and JJ in each back pocket pace to burn and skill.

I'll wait and see with Morgan.

He was drafted because he is gas and is a beautiful kick. He's been cut down by injury problems that we were well aware of and we invested in him quite heavily all things considered.

He's got about 10 games to show the form that got him recruited so you can't write him off. If I had to make a call now I'd say that if he's not on the senior list next year he'll be on the rookie list (as long as his body holds up).

Wouldn't be surprised if he's put on the rookie list

My issue is with the picks we have to give up not so much the salary.

I think our list is at the stage where we should be targeting free agents (Martin, Rockliff types) but still going to the draft with our picks.

If we can get a quality player for unders then I am open to it. I think the better we do this year the more likely players will nominate us as their preferred club which always helps.

If we were a genuine flag chance and we were just lacking in one position then you throw draft picks around and pay overs to get a flag, we are not at that stage.

Yeah, I wouldn't give up a first round pick for him which would most likely be required.

Who on our list right now would be worth a straight swap for future 1st round? Wouldn't mind having 2 in the first for the '18 superdraft and back dodo and the boys to come back with something a little better than Shane Harvey and Simon O'Keefe... 2001 was far from super for Essendon.

Maybe Langford or Laverde with a 17 second for more experience and a future 1st.

Very much a one-way attacking player though, not all that accountable when defending.
