Pick 2 talent doesn't just go away.

Has been average true, but injuries haven't helped.
I'm not saying sell the farm for him, in not even saying trade for him

But if he is let go, I sparsely think you can go wrong giving a 23 year old former pick 2 a one year shot on the rookie list
Right now if he got let go at Hawthorn I could honestly think of three VFL teams that would chase him, one of which won't be around next year. He's going to be playing local footy next year

I'd be more inclined to go the opposite way if anything, stump up the pick (because clearly that's the kind of player you're looking for with that pick anyway) but ask him to buy in to what we've got going on and leave money on the table.

I'll come at this from a different direction. Campbell has openly stated that we consult the board when it comes to big money recruits, so instead of just giving a thumbs up or thumbs down, let's say they've got a set of criteria they've all got to meet before they get the board's seal of approval.

positional need
body
character
age
repeatability

Now these are my criteria and not theirs but I would argue that the of the 5 JJ is only truly ticking off age and body. As far as positional fit goes McKenna and McGrath both going great guns has basically solved that issue, as far as character goes where there's smoke there's rarely not fire, even if it's just a small one with journalists standing around it pouring petrol on it and as far as repeatability goes 2016 was a break out for him but 2017 has been massively disappointing, who knows what 2018 and beyond is going to get you.
Hurley could protect him more with his little finger than the dogs backline at the moment. 850k is equivalent to a mil with the new CBA so 750-800k is probably about right for me. I've got a feeling we can afford it easily. If the dogs offer is correct at 550k it won't even have to be close to 8. 650k a year and a good sell would probably do it.

Having more weapons than the Dogs in our back 6 would help him a lot.

Are you questioning his character on what's happened the last few weeks? I don't think you can make a call on that unless you know him.

It's not about the size of your midfielder, but how you use it.

Merrett is easily our best clearance player. He covers the ground and tackIes if he doesn't win the ball himself.

I have been saying it all year, Heppell, Jobe, Goddard and Myers cant all be in the same team.

Being pick 2 in 2012, is completely irrelevant in 2018.

I think up until the last 2.5 mins we were winning the clearances last night for that quarter so we definitely can do it...

But it also showed we need some bigger inside mids to compete with the Kennedys of the world (obviously few are as good as Kennedy but that style of player). Tore us to shreds

Hopper is more realistic, Fyfe would be great.
