Marty isn't no Elliott Yeo neither. Pull your head in ethdog.
Just pointing out that you don't have to be 195 to be good at intercepting the ball. You need to face the facts that we won't be getting Lever because there are other teams that will be willing to pay more money that are probably just as close to premiership contention as us and will give up a first round pick for him whereas we're spending a premium for a player that we don't really need where there are other areas we need to fill that we'd be better off spending our first round pick on.

You have one choice. Can't pick both. Jacob Hopper or Jake Lever.

Surplus to requirements or not, a trio of Lever-Hurley-ambrose is extremely enticing. Good luck opposition tall forwards.

Would still take Hopper in the above scenario though.
Midfield needs to be a priority

Hartley-Hurley-Ambrose is pretty good and has the added benefit of not having to give up a first round pick

A trio of Lever, Hurley, Hartley with Ambrose replacing Baguely as lock down small. Dream

In all seriousness we have enough intercept players on our list and with have some elite intercept talent in Ridley and potentially Francis if we want him in defence. I'm with eth-dog we shouldn't be giving away money and picks that could be used for a bigger need which is of course the midfield

No doubt we lose alot of experience when watson, stanton, hocking, goddard and kelly retire. If Kelly stays in form he and Goddard should play on.

The others haven't really contributed too much as this stage. Watson has giving everything to the club but his decision making and kicking are along way off at the moment.

We need to get ready made players, such as a Lever down back. Go hard for DeGoey and Martin/ fyfe who can add another dimension to the midfield that big bodied mid, plus some outside run so we keep our momentum going forward and be a genuine challenger for top 4 next year. Zachy, Parish, & McGarth will dominate for years to come. Ambrose will be fit and firing next year. Laverde adds x factor when fit, Francis wil hopefully works his arse off and show us his full bag of tricks either in the backline or up forward.

Lever is a deadset star - I love him. He's not surplus to requirements exactly....he'd be a huge upgrade on any of Ambrose, Hartley or Gleeson.

The only thing is we have more glaring needs and he'll cost plenty. If we thought we could pick up a midfield bull on the cheap then maybe look at it, but otherwise we need to spend our pennies elsewhere.

If you take out Kelly and place Ambrose in the side on the weekend our defence average 57 games. The average age would be 24 and 3 months. Lever gets us a whole lot of nothing where we have to pay a premium.

Webb, Balic, Fyfe/Martin, Leaver. Pluck Setterfield when Leon's got him cherry ripe for us and let the good times roll...

Ambrose and Hartley are a far better fit and will play for quite literally one eighth the cost of what Lever will, no arguments that he's the better player but chasing him is utter lunacy as far as I'm concerned

If we're gonna chase Lever, we'd want to know who we would be restricting games from, cos we may as well trade them with Ridley & Francis coming through and Dea, Brown & McNiece in reserve
Adding Lever and we effectively have 2 backlines

Good kid, likely stays at the crows, and not our primary need.

Not that i want to see this trade, but

Parish to Brissy for Pick 1
Pick 1 to GWS with our 1st
Hopper & Kelly to EFC.

Bellchambers Hopper Heppell
Merrett Goddard Kelly
Can't see Brisbane agreeing to that. Might use Port's first rounder and something else.

Parish to me is still in the untouchable basket unless we can't convince him to stay.
