We loathed the 2013 draft. "Well below average" was FJ's assessment.
2014, above average.

Pick 13 2014 > pick 12 2013
You are assuming its direct comparison pick for pick.

in 2013 we may have rated the top 15-20 but after that it fell away. 2014 we may have rated 30-40 players.

The reality is the top 20 most years is usually of a similar standard, it might vary slightly but you'd still expect a shot at a good player. Lennon has AFL quality traits we rated highly and still would have gone around the same mark in 2014.

Maybe. I just read that Weller is a pro. We are getting Yarran to play a role Lennon likes to play. And I think Lennon's lazy. I hope he stays, but we need a better midfield & Weller helps us more than Lennon

Yeah agreed. I was firmly on the trade Griff boat a month or so ago but i really doubt we get the value for him. Better off having him on the list especially if we arent actively chasing a ruckman this season. Whilst i dont really rate him as a ruckman he can atleast give Ivvy a chopout from time to time.
If Vickery is not available then who helps out Maric in the ruck, Hampson?

It's one thing to strengthen our list with Weller but carefull you don't weaken other areas in the process.

I've heard it both ways with Lennon so not sure what to believe. Have heard he is desperate to be a high level AFL player and will leave no stone unturned. Have also heard he can be lazy at times and not do things to the level required.

I think in the long run Lennon could actually be more beneficial to our midfield his hands are first class, as seen by his marking display in the wet, and he reads the ball beautifully. Plus he has a big frame already to build on and as he moves into the midfield i can see him becoming a quality inside mid.

Weller I haven't seen enough of but he is more outside and with great speed and decent kicking skills, as RichoLedio said could be a great winger/HBF... can't believe Richoledio said something serious

I think the party about laziness has come from some RFC roar vision stuff where they talked about him coming into the club with all the skills, but wasn't working hard enough to get the most out of himself. So that's why he took a while to break into the team, he's got all the talent, but they wanted him to prove his work ethic before he got a senior spot. Which he's done now. I'm desperate to hang on to him unless we're getting something really good back.

Jed Anderson - Would chase him hard. Is a great tackler, has real class, can get a heap of the ball and is a goalkicker. Genuine star in the making. If he was in this year's draft, I'd have no issues selecting him with our first. Would maybe come cheaper if he requests a trade.

Lachie Weller - Again, a classy player. A real smooth mover who would be great for his vision and underrated work rate.

CEY - Thinking it's unlikely he'll move now, is the type of player who'd slot right into the midfield next to Miles and be effective straight away.

Jack Redden - He'll go to WCE replacing Selwood.

Wouldn't mind looking at Josh Green. Admittedly, haven't looked at his contract situation and don't know where he sits in that regard, but he'd certainly be a handy pick up. Fills in that genuine small forward need, none of this playing him off half back or through the midfield.

If we were able to land a couple of quality young guys and Yarran, we'll look back on this whole trade period as a huge success featuring 2 "doozies". The feeling of something big coming up is returning.
