Just outed yourself as a Cats supporter. I always wondered what your real colours were.

Cameron didn't deliver Geelong a flag, that is utterly laughable. He got 1 coaches vote in 3 finals the year they won the flag. He has a total of 4 coaches votes in 8 finals since moving to Geelong. 3 of those were in the rout v Port Adelaide this year. His finals player ratings at Geelong average around 10.0. This is barely more than an average player rating across 22 players. In fact it is about average.

He is not a key forward's bootlace, and isn't transforming any team. He is just a good receiver and converter who runs out of options if the opposition has a tallish player who can run with him. He is a contested fairy.

Bolton is a hellish match-up. In 2022 and 2023 he was the ranked AFL#2 & AFL#1 of players designated as forwards. Cameron has never once ranked in the top 2. The trade will no doubt happen, and what we will see is Bolton will carve teams to shreds, but won't rely on a whole team being set up to feed him easy balls to do it. He will consistently win critical contests. Something Jeremy Cameron very rarely does.
Cameron's athelticism perfect balance to Hawkins, & now Neale. Cameron to Geelong and flag the next year. That's success. 4 coaches votes. FMD. Who cares. A KPF who kicks more than 2 goals a game, doing his job.

Not a KPFs arseh*le hasn't stopped Cats going deep in September every year he's been there.

$hai Bolton's un paralled brilliant 2023 delivered RFC 13th. 2024 was meh. That starting mid in Hawks game. Easily beaten.

Gut feel only but reckon rioli trade will wait for first GC and Collingwood trade, then Port and GC trade for Lukocious (ports future 1st I reckon).

Rioli trade could then look like Pick 6 and GC future first, I think that is very reasonable. Reckon GC think they finish better than Port next year and keep the better pick, the port future 1st). No paying for any Riolis GC contract years, keep salary cap for when trading that cap space for picks in following years.

I don't watch Freo but they lost the last 4 and missed the 8 by 1/2 a game.

What happened? Injury.
No Patrick Voss no Freo?

GCS WILL NOT TRADE A FUTURE PICK!!! They have academy players next year and actually want future picks to be traded in, not the other way

Cats were "deep in September" the 2 years before Cameraman arrived, including the Grand Final the very year before he arrived, and clearly the second best team in 2019.

In fact, they went:

2016 - PF
2017 - PF
2018 - EF
2019 - PF
2020 - GF

Cameron arrives

2021 - PF
2022 - GF(Premier)
2023 - 11th
2024 - PF

Average finishing position for 5 years before Cameron arrived: 3.6th

Average finishing position since Cameron arrived: 4.5th

So we could as easily say Tyson Stengle has made the difference by your reasoning. Or the removal of a dynasty team from their finals opponents made the difference. Except the difference is they have finished lower on average in 4 years since Cameron arrived then they did in the 5 years prior to his arrival.

Bolton has proven he can play in a multiple flag team. He has proven he can be a material difference in whether his team wins a flag or not IN BIG GAMES. He has been AA selected, the highest rated forward in the AFL, and top 15 in coaches votes in a season.

If Cameron was somehow on a massively different level to Bolton, then all these things would not be true:

  • Bolton is getting paid more
  • Bolton has been a higher rated player
  • Bolton has played in more flags and been critical to at least one flag
  • Bolton is about to be traded for more than Cameron was traded for.
  • Cameron's team has a lower average finishing position in the 4 years since he arrived than they did in the 5 years prior, and by a clear margin.

A lot of people think Cameron is some sort of unarguably absolute top level player, and Bolton picks and chooses when he performs, but is somehow disappointing. Cameron is a massive bootfiller v weak teams. Bolton has been a serious hinge factor in a flag winning finals campaign, at 21 years of age.

Bolton didn't have a great year in 2024, but seriously, how would Jeremy Cameron have gone playing forward for Richmond in 2024?

Cool, I will stick to what I feel. If GC bring in two+ future firsts, then they may release one and still have two first round picks next year.

What facts actually back up your position? What you are saying may be what happens but is currently as equal weight as all other "predictions" of everything other scenario floated. No need to jump on a genuine hypothetical with CAPS!!!!

Lots of talk about our lack of experience in 2025….

Even with all our departures, if Macca stays we have 10 x 100+ gamers on our list, with 3 x 200+. If Boak retires Port will also have 10 x 100+ gamers, with 1 x 200+. If Walters retires Freo have 10, with 2 x 200+ players.

The level of ‘panic’ about the experience on our list is completely unfounded. It’s absolutely fine for a rebuilding club. Even if we suffer lots of injuries, we will have at least half a dozen 100+ gamers out there every week.

In addition, we have about 16 x players who will be in their 3rd season or later…. so that’ll be 26 players on our list into their 3rd season or later.

So there’s zero issue with the experience we will have on the park each week in 2025… zero. Doesn’t mean we will win many games, but there’s no reason to sign up duds like Darling, Seb Ross or any other mature aged duds just for experience.

Hasn’t it been reported since Rioli was interviewed at the airport that he would be leaving for 2 first rounders ?

What’s the big deal now then ? Why are we looking like the bad guys ?

Well it must have been us that started the rumour then
