But the Hawks were finished. Do you think we're finished?
No however I don’t think we have our foot on the till of a flag , we should be able to contend and who knows from there. I’d much prefer that we invest heavily , 8-10 kids next 2 drafts , if half become good ens then with retirements looming they’ll be ready to go with a couple a seasons under the belt . Back to hawthorn I don’t reckon they thought they were shot when they landed those guys , my haw mates celebrated with jaegar bombs that night

Absolutely bang on, resting mids who can kick goals is the future

So we win 3 of the last 5 flags with at least 2 out and out specialist small forwards, Dees just smashed the finals with Spargo, Neal-Bullen, and Pickett all specialist small forwards...

Really probably not the right place to discuss it but I really hope we leave Stack in the back half. I know he can switch forward but he plays so much more confidently and assuredly off half back.

It would be good to see Sydney settle in a spot he plays well for a season or two, despite the temptation to move him up onto the middle and forward. Keep him where he is in the back rotations so he can do his apprenticeship like Baker. Use him every now and then as a change up or as an impact players or give him a job on an oppo jet to keep him fresh and we will have a serious gun on our hands for years to come.

3rd year in the system as a 21yo,

Hill 2021, in a lower finals team: 9 disposals, 1.8 goals + goal assists, 2.8 tackles, 1.4 clangers

Castagna 2017, in a Premiership team: 11 disposals, 1.4 goals + goal assists, 3 tackles, 1.9 clangers

You reckon Hill is behind Castagna at the same stage?

Bearing in mind Castagna is a triple premiership small forward and he was playing forward in the best team in the competition that season. How is Hill tracking worse?
Where are u getting your Bobby hill stats from played 30 games for 25 Career GLS with 9 touches a game.
2021 stats at age 21 , 9 touches .82gls.
Castanya at 21 10.8 dis,1.04 GLS in a flag.

In a perfect world he becomes the mid at AFL level that he was at junior level 😍

Do yourself a favour …. head over to the Norf trading thread and view from 7th October …. Read the arrogance in the lead up to the CJ deal…. then the deal is announced. The contrast between the 100-pages prior to deal, and 100-pages post deal is a thing of absolute beauty. I’ve never had a more pleasurable 2-hours on BF. Talk about make my day! Grab the popcorn and head over … you won’t regret it.

Stack has huge potential don't get me wrong, but the way most on here are talking, it's like he is the next coming of Judd.
He kicked two goals in our last game after rotating forward and people have blown their loads over it.
As I've previously pointed out, Stack is one off-field mishap away from being delisted.
We need to be realistic with what to expect from him. I'd much rather trade for Hill instead of potentially being left short on options because Stack gets caught doing something stupid.
It's the elephant in the room but it needs to be addressed. Short memories in here.
Jeez mate he's done everything asked of him this season and arguably more. He needs to be settled in a position imo and used forward only for impact.

The club are obviously happy with him, he's ticked all the boxes and gets a new contract but everyone knows he's a work in progress. It's the carrot not the stick. He IS super talented so why wouldn't you give him every chance. Kid needs support and structure not suspicion and scorn. Sometimes I reckon people take more delight out of someone failing, not succeeding.

Disagree Pickett was average in the finals series but he played his role in forward pressure. Like i said above the comp is moving away from this. key word 'moving'

Baily Fritsch dominated the finals and is the future type of medium sized forward that can take marks given the style of the game is going torwards center clearance and marks not chaos ball

If thats the case lets put Dusty out to pasture.
He's only another knock away from losing him for good.

Hill looks like a great groundball player, knows where the goals are, and seems to be more stable than Stacky. More of a Michael Walters style player. They'll probably occupy different parts of the ground so it's not like we can't have both.
Plenty of Hill types if & when needed.(We already one in our own backyard in MRJ)
Rather give Stack first shot at it.
Stack Balta MRJ

Just being realistic. I never said I didn't want to give him a chance, I just don't us ignoring a player like Hill just because we have Stack, who is one off field incident away from being out the door.
That's my whole point.

George was 5 straight kicks away from winning the Norm in 19.:)
