Would be more reassured if he had said "problem was getting the deal done" not "is"
Here's the context:

"He said there was always going to be a problem for the Cats to bring Jake Stringer in from the Bulldogs.

"It would have to be a really good deal for us to part with (pick 20)," he said, adding that it may have been a good trade for Stringer but the Bulldogs made it clear that pick 20 wouldn't be enough."

They can't afford Watts by the sounds of it so what makes them think they can afford Stinger.
Dogs are up a certain creek without a paddle now imo. Stringer will only play for us, and they've succesfully managed to piss off Connors and his team so there is little to no inclination for them to salvage the train wreck that relationship has now become. Stringer refusing to meet with Beveridge yesterday is proof that the relationship is beyond repair.

It feels weird having Connors on our side for once...
is he though? why doesnt he just come out and say that Essendon is Jakes nominated club.

He's a two timing flog himself, tell him to get off the fence.
He's never on a club's side. He's always on his player's side, which means that one club is always going to cop the short end of the stick. That's why he's at the top of his profession.

Yeah, you really can't blame Connors for keeping as many options open to his client as possible, especially given that the possibility of JS staying with the Dogs looks gone.

Add to the fact that they are rejecting Geelong's offers for a 34 year old that would likely retire at Gold Coast and Matera for supposedly a 3rd rounder from Fremantle, Gold Coast are the true hard to deal with club.

What looked to be a pretty straight forward second round pick is muddied for no reason.

They are rejecting a third round pick for Matera? That's a new low.

mmm seem to re-call him threatening clauses though when he wanted Paddy a contracted player to go to Port Adelaide which was in Port Adelaides favour.

why is he not doing such things for Jake?

Lloydy was apparently saying earlier they're being really stupid in that regard and that Matera was/is on the verge of being delisted anyway. Suns being unreasonable expecting anything more than a 3rd for a player who's not in their best 22 going forward.
