No chance in the world they do that trade....
I think Bulldogs would take it.

Two second rounders, this year's first for Stringer and next year's first.

Problem is, what have we left for Smith and Saad? Break our next year's first for a second + Smith/Saad, then on trade that to the other one?

I'm guessing he was talking about this:
"SEN is reporting pick 11 pick 29&2018 second for Footscrays 2018 first and stringer."

Hmmm Interesting. Next year is a "superdraft" and I don't expect Bulldogs to do that well.
Could happen but might make it difficult to get both Smith and Saad. Sounds pretty speculative to me.

I think we could work around it by the scenario I mentioned above.

At worst, we'll have 2 picks next year + 2019 first to throw at an uncontracted Wines :D

Two second rounders seems a bit steep...

Nah I reckon its probably good value for us. Pick 28 and if we finish 6th or higher then it is 30+. That is a bargain if he regains his form.

Maybe we back in our team and trade our first next year for Saad/Smith and one of GWS/GCS 2nds this year and on trade that 2nd for the other one of Smith/Saad.

They could take any other number of trades but Hibberd is a really good one because it's a year old and he was a gun half back (i.e. the same position) which is an assessment now supported by his All Australian selection.

The fact that we owed Hibberd is akin to GC already agreeing to trade Saad home for cultural reasons. If they can get a first round pick on its own so be it but that's a fantasy and everyone knows it.

They pull bullshit every year at trade time.
Add to the fact that they are rejecting Geelong's offers for a 34 year old that would likely retire at Gold Coast and Matera for supposedly a 3rd rounder from Fremantle, Gold Coast are the true hard to deal with club. They were pretty good about prestia.

What looked to be a pretty straight forward second round pick is muddied for no reason.
I think GC are unfairly maligned. I understand why they were pissed about O'Meara - he was out the door 6 months before trade week, and obviously not being upfront with them about it.

With regards to Ablett - again, their irritation is understandable - the guy signed a contract, took their money, and then wanted to bail with 2 years remaining. At least from the outside, it looks like he's not been a particularly good leader and he doesn't appear as though he particularly enjoys playing for them.

What other trades have they been difficult about?

If you think about it though, it puts Stringer's value at approximately Pick 15 (which is right on the upper limit of what people seem to think he's worth). And if you consider the Dogs are probably going to drop further again without Stringer next year, it'd be close to a guarantee to be a top 10 pick.

I suppose all we'd have to do from their would be to trade our own 2018 1st to lets say the Giants for say Smith and Pick 25. That then gives us a crack at one of the gun talls in next years draft.

It is not really the mediators job to provide an evaluation of a players worth. They are not qualified do to that and would not know anything more than the average footy fan. The AFL appoints them and they could be judges, justices who have the skills to deal with situations when negotiations break down. Their opinions on what a player is worth is useless.
Rubbish - the afl decide the compensation for free agents. The same people making these decisions can be the mediators.

Stringer refusing to meet with Beveridge yesterday is proof that the relationship is beyond repair.
WEEVZ: could you tell me where this was reported, please?

Almost as if he's got 3 trades with high degrees of difficulty to execute... :D
Yep. I've no doubt he'd also be devastated, personally, atm by what's happened to Merv Keane.

I could live with that, we'd have two first round picks next year which would put us in a strong position to secure a gun or just get two good kids.

A string of terrible events in his immediate family. I think his daughter took her own life; his son was then diagnosed with cancer; and his wife, in her terrible grief, took her life as well. All in a very short space of time. Just horrendous.
Gee that's absolutely terrible
